Guest guest
Tony: I agree. I just finished training on Domestic violence and the stats in the USA are staggering and rising for a variety of reasons. If you want to point to one group who commits most of the violence against women, children, pets and others in the male gender? It is boys and men. It is not that women do not offend, but their stats are so low in comparison. What does this say about our culture, enviorment, media and "how" we raise boys? It is a deep rooted issue in our culture and social norms are just starting to shift. I think it is case by case. Maybe having AS and not getting the proper help is just a small part of the issue. Who were his male role models? What kids did he hang out with? Where was he getting these ideas that reinforced that this behavor is OK? This is what "real men do!" NOT! Most men are not like this but it has been engrained, reinforced and enabled for years in our culture. Maybe the focus never should of been AS but shifted to cultual norms and exploring how they got to this point in their life? Was it AS or was that only part of the equation? It is an complicated issue. Just my humble opinion. Happy Mother's Day!
