Should you prefer, you can easily remove the alcohol by lighting the tincture

like a flame in a restaurant, or by adding the tincture to water or tea that is

warm enough to have steam rising from it. Leave to steam for atleast 5 minutes.

Do not use boiling water which will destroy the precious enzymes.

information from my doctors on how to appropriatly flash the alcohol from

Nutramedix drops. One says use boiling water and the other says no more than 105

degrees. If you have any information on how to get the alcolhol out please share

with me.

the USDA did a chart for various heating/cooking methods for various amounts of

time. In a nutshell: you get very modest alcohol burnoff unless you cook the

daylights out of it. While I don't find our government to be a particularly

reliable source of health information, the chart did look to be based on actual

experiments/measurements. Sorry I couldn't find the link or my earlier email on

it right now.

Selene,

I copied and pasted your previous post here, the alcohol burn-off

chart from the USDA included.

alcohol burn-off chart from the USDA:

added to boiling liquid and removed from heat leaves 85% of alcohol

remaining-- meaning it removes only 15%

Thanks.

Oh my this is not good! So basically what I'm seeing, from USDA, is I can never

get rid of all the alcohol. And since I'm not mixing it with anything best case

senaria for me to get out only 55% by baking the tinture for 25 minutes. But it

doesn't seem like baking 2 drops of a tintures for 25 minutes would actually

work.

We make alcohol-free extracts at BrainChild. Which herbs would you like to see?

We just announced an alcohol-free Cat's Claw (same herb as Samento).
