First time visitor! I'm hoping to find some insight, understanding and

HELP with my mom, who seems to have the BP disorder. It's a little

late in the game--she's 82 years old--but as angry, accusing and

dysfunctional as ever. Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome!

It is never too late to find out that BPD is the explanation for how

we were treated by our mother or father. My nada ( our term for BPD

mother - or 'not a mother') is 85, and I also found out about BPD

around the time she was 82. Learning about this disorder, and being a

member of this board, have helped me more than anything else in

recovering from the abuse I suffered under her 'parenting'.

Hi,And Welcome. It's never too late in the game. Especially since

you only have the power to change and work on yourself as nadas at any

age usually resist any introspection or change. I only learned my

mother was BPD 2 years ago. My sister stumbled onto an article that

lead me to spend hours researching and reading. I learned for the

first time why I had so much pent up anger and resentment toward my

mother. Just to let you know it is not too late, I was sixty when I

learned of BPD. My mother is 96 1/2 years old. Her worst traits have

only increased and become much more obvious with her aging. So

prepare yourself and learn all you can now. Things could get worse.

Just knowing was such as relief to me. Dee
