Guest guest
, Do you mean the BIG quake back in the late 80's maybe 1990? The one that had the major highway collapse onto each other? You were there? My nerves would have been shot. I remember watching that on tv and being horrified for those people. I remember exactly where I was when that happened. Sitting on the couch with my second fiancee waiting for the baseball game to start. The tv went green and I though Yeah, I don't have to watch a boring game but then when I found out what happened, I just couldn't believe it. You went through surgery right after that??????? My God, you are brave!Shirley Seal <toshirl20022002@...> wrote: Wow, ...you were brave...I don't think I would have felt very safe in any large building after that quake. However, we were all anxious for the implants. weren't we? So, in that case I probably would have. What hospital were you in? I know that when I finally drove to Riverside, CA, everything was business as usual and my friends thought that I was exaggerating the quake and the damage. Guest guest
No, that was San Francisco, but Northridge had one that did some pretty specific damage and made a lot of buildings unusable. It would have been pretty frightening for those in the middle of it. Lynda At 07:14 PM 7/11/2005, you wrote: >, > >Do you mean the BIG quake back in the late 80's maybe 1990? Guest guest
It was Northridge in 94. We had freeways downed, buildings and malls collapse, and the death toll was around 65 people. Yes, it was all very horrific being in the middle of it, but if you drove 20 miles away you never would believe the devastation. I don't think I was being brave in going under the knife so soon after. At the time, everyone was getting back to life as usual. We just did what we had to do to move on. But I know it had a temendous affect on my nerves. I ended up moving out of my apartment building into a one story house a few months later. I have never lived in a building over 2 stories since then, and I won't. My building should have been red tagged, meaning uninhabitable, but our landlords bought a green tag and forced us to pay rent. It was a miserable time.
