I've been reading " The Maker's Diet " . . .

Rubin is an inspiring writer . . . The book is as

interesting for the information as for the diet. . .

I found it at Half-Price books for just $10. . . It's

worth many times that! It makes sense of so many

things we've been experiencing!

I just got my copy of The Maker's Diet and read it. I am excited, but

I have a few questions pertaining to following it. It makes more

sense even than the candida diet, and a lot of the fermented stuff

would be good for my child who has autism. He has been doing the

gluten-free,casein-free diet for two years, but research I have read

says he would benefit from some high-probiotic dairy fermented over 24

hours ( which removes all traces of lactose), so we are gearing up for

him to try that, with some enzymes. The Maker's Diet makes a lot of

sense when I think about his biomedical autism issues.

I am going to try to make even more stuff at home, and save money to

apply to the higher costs of organic meats. I feed 6-7 people per

night, not to mention lunches for three kids and a 6' 4 " man.

Anyway, I am looking for a saurkraut or kimchee recipe. Kimchee is

spicy, but my kids do eat it. Anyone have good recipes? Really,

nothing could be cheaper than cabbage!

Also, does anyone have any money saving tips for being on this diet

long- term?

Which of the supplements are most beneficial? I already make my own

yogurt and am pretty good with the probiotics, but I don't know which

of the other stuff might be a " must. "

What about that clenzology stuff? What is that? Can't we just use

our own soap and follow a protocol? I make my own soap, or we use Dr.

Bronner's anyway, so I know it is healthy.

And last, I am putting my whole family on this diet, probably without

telling them much. Do you think just hitting Phase three for the kids

would be okay? I know they will balk if they have to go through the

restrictive phases 1 and 2, plus will probably feel funny having

strange school lunches. One of my kids has huge urges to eat sugar

and junk, and has terrible behavior issues related to them, not to

mention food allergies which she ignores whenever she can. She should

be on her brother's diet, but blatently refuses, so I need to make

this diet seem like " gourmet or " foreign " food and she will probably

eat it. Our dinners seem to follow the diet anyway, it's just the

breakfast and lunch changes that may seem hard.

Anyway, I am eager to try this. My children have been gone for over

two months (staying with my ex-husband) and are coming home on

Wednesday. I had the luxury of falling apart physically and having

surgery and recovering without having to care for kids, too! I feel

so much better that I am committed to passing on this healthy blessing

to them through diet.

Hi Dawn, Regarding your child with autism . . . I posted some information recently regarding Autism and Vitamin A . . . Looks REAL good. Patty posted a sauerkraut recipes in the Files section . . . under Healthy Recipes. . . I've been making the sauerkraut . .. we love it! . You can add different things to it for variety. When changing a diet program so radically, especially with kids, I'd suggest introducing changes slowly . .. find some things they like and gradually replace the things they should be eating . . . Embarking on completely new program can cause a lot of stress - to the point that some people just give up . . . I suspect it would be even tougher with kids. . . Phase three would be a good place to start. Patty recently posted a site that can help you find places that sell raw milk products (usually goat milk/cheese). They're

all over the country . . . I'm going to find one near me . . . The goat milk I've bought from the store was wonderful! . . . It tastes so rich, I felt guilty drinking it! Probiotics are great . . . I think the most important thing is eliminating the artificial foods, refined grains, processed foods and, above all Sugar! . . . Rubin recommends using up to a tablespoon of honey a day, if sweetness is needed . . .and Sunny says that real maple syrup works well too. Don't use the microwave . .. Use sea salt and, for cooking coconut oil. Virgin coconut oil has a strong coconut flavor, but expressed coconut oil cooks well. . . Otherwise, use Olive oil . . . www.tropicaltraditions.com has good priced for coconut oil . ..especially when they have a sale. Kenda makes soap too . . . Sunny recommends the Master Cleanse . . . I don't have

Happy Easter to you Lynn, and to all the other wonderful ladies here! . . .

The Maker's Diet is not the ONLY way to eat right . . . And regardless if one follows the diet precisely or not, the education gained by reading the book will increase ones awareness of why we must eat right to be healthy.

This understanding makes eating healthy sooooo much easier!

As my oncologists' nurse told me, (smiling as we spoke behind his back) . . . "The Maker's Diet is only common sense." . . .

Hi all,Just wanted to say an early Happy Easter, I hope you all have a blessed day tomorrow. I also wanted to give a big thank you from the bottom of my heart for recommending The Maker's Diet book to me. I checked it out from the library this afternoon and also ordered a copy from E-Bay for about $3.50 (with shipping and takes about $7.00). While I am not feeling to great this evening, thyroid is flaring again -seems to happen at night for some odd reason, I am hopeful that with the proper diet and my explant next Friday that I will be able to recover some of my health (and maybe even have a baby someday). Love you all! Your advice is precious to me!! Lynn
