Guest guest
thanks sue I appreciate your kind thoughts they are pretty scary.... this one is only dumping lots of rain and high winds in my area but the people in the panhandle of Florid definitely need all your prayers as this is a nasty one that is gonna be hitting them head on as it looks now... the hardest part is they are so unpredictable... they can be headed outta your way and you go shopping for a few hours and come home and be under a mandatory evacuation as it has turned... that is the scariest part - not knowing. We have holes drilled all over our home with boards precut to fit all of our windows just in case - it only takes and hour or so to put them on if need be. Some people down here just do not think ahead and are not prepared for the worst - those are the ones with the biggest tragedies when it is all over. living here all of my life I have learned what to do and when to act but it is still scary knowing you could lose your home at the drop of a hat and be homeless as so many were last year. I was very lucky. thanks again for thinking of me love shari
Guest guest
Dear Shari, Gosh I cannot imagine what it must be like having to literally having to batten down and ride out a storm like that. Over here in England we have only ever had one hurricane in 1986 I think and that was so scary, I stayed awake all night waiting for my roof to blow off listening to the trees being pulled from the ground. I cannot imagine what it must feel like having that kind of weather year after year. Takecare love Sue.
Guest guest
Sue well - it is a little scary but have some pretty neat home footage to show my kids when we move out of here eventually.... nature is a crazy thing. This storm was nothing for us - last year was a nightmare - three in three weeks. I literally thought in one there we were gonna lose out home it was blowing so hard. Lukily it looks like we picked a good builder!! we lost quite a few shingles and some gutters but that was all - and out little oak tree. that was sad. anyways being in 100 mhp plus winds gets a little crazy - especially w/ a toddler. no electricity and sound of it is the worse part. very eerie to hears winds go by like that. anyways - this one is over - getting ready for the next as I am sure it is around the corner - I HATE HURRICANE SEASON! I will enjoy the sun while I can!! love shari
Guest guest
Hi Shari, Just watched the news this morning and they said that the damage was more localized, but still bad. I'm glad things have calmed down. I was was at my daughters during the Northridge earthquake in CA...unlike others, her neighborhood survived pretty well...of course all fences were down, lots of breakage inside homes, and the power was off. A neighbor had a generator and we all gathered there to cook outside and watch the news on TV. Most everyone slept outside for almost a week because of the aftershocks. My daughter eventually packed up her kids and went to a friend's in Washington state. I eventually got the courage to drive 70 miles down the freeway to my apt. So, I really give you credit to have gone through these storms all your life. Of course, it's hard to just pack up and leave everything. Plus, where do you go? Take care, Shirley halvey70@... wrote: Suewell - it is a little scary but have some pretty neat home footage to show my kids when we move out of here eventually.... nature is a crazy thing.
