Guest guest
> What types of foods and nutrients to keep the body alkaline? > Thanks so much! I have a list that I could type up sometime, but generally, if you focus on plant foods, you will be eating the alkaline groups. Here's what to eat: Fruits (except cranberries, plums and prunes--these are acid forming) Vegetables (except winter squash--these are acid forming) Sea Vegetables Millet (most other grains are acid forming) Sprouts Avoid these groups: Alcohol Dairy Sugars Wheat Animal Protein (including fish) Rice Patty
Guest guest
You can change your diet to include 80% alkaline foods and 20% acid foods. This will take effort on your part, but you should be able to see excellent results in a few weeks. We have a file in our files section on Alkaline and Acid Diet. Here is the link: http://f4.grp.fs.com/v1/kNTfQn8R9vOjVOIydHf- Sm9q8cVAVNOuT_ebkT9EI5178CMIc6VC217YotOS_cjZdmc23E5ChFGnaM5XJO0Q/Healin g%20Therapies/Acid%20%26%20Alkaline%20Balance%20in%20the%20Diet It is basically eating an 80% raw foods diet, as most fruits and vegetables form alkaline acids as they are metabolized. That is the key to health for many people. Our standard American diet is waaaayyyy tooooo acidic. It gives the opportunity for cancer a great foothold, as well as other degenerative diseases, while fruits and veggies go a long way toward promoting health, but the key is to eat them raw. Hope this helps! > I dont know much about being alkaline except that i am very acidic. > How do i change that in my system, i have heard of water systems that > make the water alkaline. Guest guest
My naturopath gave me some homeopathic products to help with my acidity . . . $$$$$ I'd suggest doing it with diet if possible. He tested me first though. I've noticed that using the sauna helps keep my acidity down. There are strips you can get through a pharmacy to test yourself. Guest guest
What do you juice? All of the things that I like are high in sugar. I have some green stuff that I got from Dr. Leu. I put a whole scoop in my protein drink and it was NASTY! I’ll try sprinkling some on, that’s a great idea!! So ill have to steal hers as they are a couple hundred dollars. What should i juice, I tried beet roots once because they are supposed to help with stones but ohh my god i could barely get the stringy stuff down. Guest guest
Beets are way too strong to juice alone! Drinking even a half of a beet mixed with other juices can induce vomiting, so I always suggest caution with beets! Beet juice in small amounts can be good for the liver, but I would juice maybe a quarter of one at the most, and mix it with apple and carrot. Yikes, they taste icky, too! They are so strong, they can almost ruin a good glass of fresh juice! I don't blame you for hardly being able to drink that nasty stuff! I know one girl on our group who experienced the vomiting after juicing a whole beet with her other juices, so you have to be careful even when mixing it with other juices. Guest guest
What is beet root? (Beets are roots, aren't they?) I wonder if we are talking about the same thing? I thought so, but anyway, I was talking about the red bulb at the end of the leaves. (Which I actually love to eat cooked and/or pickled! I can eat a whole jar of those.) I have juiced the whole thing (the deep green leaves along with the red root.) Either way, they are just too strong to juice alone and nasty too! > > > > > > > > > >> > I dont know much about being alkaline except that i > > > > >> > am very acidic. > > > > >> > How do i change that in my system, i have heard of > > > > >> > water systems that > > > > >> > make the water alkaline. Guest guest
- I guess we are all different! I have no problem with juicing beets. I take a whole beet and add carrot and apple. I like the taste. But I will say they do make me herx as they are very detoxifying to the liver. Guest guest
Wow, Kathy, of all people, I would have thought you would be one to react violently to beets! This suprises me! Unless your body needs to benefits of the beets so much that it just takes it all in...I get very nauseous if I drink more than half a beet in a glass of juice. I know had a whole beet in her juice one morning and she vomited. I remember her writing us about it. No fun throwing up, that's for sure. More power to you with the beets! That's great!
