WebVisits: IMH vs RelayHealth

After being open for a year and doing some informal, unstructured email type visits, I've decided that I need more structure to get the information and payment I need. I'm also trying to tidy things up before going out on maternity leave this summer, and would like to have this in place so I can handle things from home more easily. Debating Instant Medical History vs Relay Health...I had been planning to just go with IMH because I thought it was cheaper, ($50/month) and had reviewed the wiki and old posts and felt comfortable setting up the paypal/IMH DIY combo used by Lynn Ho, Oaks, the former IMP of Clemensen... However, I recently found out that if you just use the webvisit component of RelayHealth it is only $25/month, (confirmed with the rep) and the billing piece can be wrapped into that more seamlessly (they keep the creditcard info on file, etc). So now I am rethinking, and wondering about experiences of those of you using RelayHealth for webvisits currently? Pros/Cons that I can see right now: (bolded the more attractive option under each, hope the formatting comes across)Relay Health IMH$25/mo $50/month1 yr contract Month by month$100 setup fee No setup feeNo free trial Free trial Simple pt billing Have to setup workaround using paypal, etc for billingThe one big piece that I haven't figured out is getting the data out into my EMR - (I'm beta testing one, so interfaces may be in the future, but not available right now). With IMH I get the results as a file that I could send into the EMR without too much difficulty. I haven't heard back from RelayHealth about how I would get data out since they seem to keep everything in their portal/secure messaging system. Anybody out there doing this without an EMR interface? Right now I am definitely leaning towards RelayHealth because of the pricing/billing advantages, but don't want to sign a year contract without a little more input. Thought maybe others might want to know about the real price of just webvisits, since a lot of previous posts about Relay Health had given me the impression that you needed a $200+ package to use them (and I don't need the other components they offer).Thanks!-jess MDMeliora Family Medicine PLLCwww.meliorafamilymedicine.comjessicadavismd@...1-

Hi ,

We use RelayHealth. We don’t

have enough patients using it for Web visits to make it worth $25/month (we

also use it for rx requests, messaging, and lab results – but don’t

pay for it as it is one of the benefits of belonging to our IPA), but if you

are already doing quite a few web visits per month and are obviously planning

to pay for it, then it is worth it. We do not have an interface with our

EMR. You can copy & paste everything, just like you can in a Word

document, which is how we get it into our EMR. Much easier than dealing

with an interface. The patients pay for the web visit with their credit

card to Relayhealth and then we get a check from them – usually 3-4 weeks

later. I always bill the insurance company just in case they pay for web visits

and can generate a refund to the patient (FYI, no one has had insurance that

covers web visits yet). You can also waive the payment for the patient if

you need to see them in the office. I really like not having to track

down the billing on these since it is collected up front. BTW, we

can log in remotely on our iPhones to RelayHealth, which allows some rx refills

and web visits to occur, even when we’re on vacation. Steve puts on

an “out of office” message on RH so that patients don’t

expect a response same-day (and are pleasantly surprised when they do –

and very apologetic for interrupting our vacation).
