Jen,

You are not going to believe this! I was just on priceline and expedia this

morning looking at the cost of an airline ticket to Las Vegas for the

Olympia. I wanted to post on the board asking people if they wanted to meet

up there! I have ALWAYS wanted to go to that show but have never made the

commitment. I'm wondering if there's an affordable hotel there somewhere

and where's the cheapest place to get airline tickets? I REALLY, REALLY

want to do it, if I can.

I'm sure we can find a cheap hotel in Vegas somewhere. When I was

there (the only time I went) we stayed at a hotel off the strip and

it was only $40 per night!!! Amazing, but true. If you are willing

to stay a block or so off the strip, there's lots of less expensive

options.

Airline tickets shouldn't be too bad... Las Vegas is such a hot

vacation spot that airfare is usually not too prohibitive, even from

the East Coast. I would definitely commit to going myself if I knew

for certain that other BFLers would be there. I've always wanted to

go to it too!

Do you know when in Oct? I'd be up for the trip if available at that

time.

KC to Las Vegas is only $198 round trip on SW Airlines. That's pretty

cheap.

Sara,

Try going to www.expedia.com and then click on " Deals " , then the Las

Vegas button. Out of Penacola, for a 1-star hotel, here are the

prices, including air fare and taxes. (Per person, double occ.)

4 nights: $382.97

3 nights: $368.20

2 nights: $353.43

For a 2-star, 2 nights goes to $383.63

3-star: $389.31

4-star: $451.22 (Golden Nugget)

Most of these are downtown, in the older " strip " section (not nude

strip, Brett!). The newer areas look like they'll cost an extra $100-

200.

One more note here.... when this group met up at the Olympia in 1999

(before I was a member but I heard about it later), I believe that a

few people agreed to share hotel rooms if they were singles (and

that would be ladies with ladies, men with men, for all you pervs!!)

who didn't bring a significant other. That way they were able to

stay at a nicer hotel and keep the cost down. Just an idea. :)
