This sounds like what Ilena was talking about in her recent post that

discussed the miscarriages, with the problem being inappropriate

clotting.

Our Cathie contributed this:

Scarlett6@...

I can't think of any at this point, but I remember that Cardiolipin

antibodies can be associated with miscarriages... I was WAY past the

age where this was an issue with me, but I did test positive for these

back in the early 90's when I first got sick. Perhaps others have too.

Below is a site that gives a little info on the autoantibodies, which

cause inappropriate clotting.

http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/cardiolipin/sample

..html

From the above site:

Cardiolipin antibodies are associated with decreased platelets

(thrombocytopenia) and with the risk of recurrent miscarriages

(especially in the 2nd and 3rd trimester), premature labor, and pre-

eclampsia.

Nurse Boone added this:

Boone1289@... Dr. Patton and Britta were doing studies on this,

but I can't remember now if anything was ever published.

The miscarriages, strokes, and heart attacks that many of the women

were having was thought to be due to high Anticardiolipin antibodies.

One of the lupus related antibodies. Dr. Patten always tested for

them, and mine were extremely high. High levels cause blood clots,

which can cause the miscarriages, strokes, or heart attacks.

Many years ago, I thought I had a preliminary study, but I don't know

for sure now.

Hugs,
