Guest guest
Sherry, My MRI's show a bone cyst on the right side, but my pain is in the left hip. Go figure. At first they were worried about AVN (avascular necrosis) but they are watching it for now.
Guest guest
Hello Sherry, Hip pain is no fun and I would like you to consider a few things I have learned about hip pain in people particularly if they have been on oral steroids. First pain that originates from the hip joint is appreciated (felt) in the groin area. Pain over the lateral side of the hip with clicking, popping, or worsened by lying on the effected side down is most often bursitis and tendonitis. Second xrays and ultra-sound image bone and some soft-tissue but are not nearly as specific or sensitive at detecting abnormalaties as an MRI. CT scans show enhanced bone detail but transmit increased radiation Third nothing beats a physician who takes a comprehesive history and actually performs a hands-on physical eam on both hips. The exam should be performed with you walking, sitting, as well as supine. Consider an evaluation with a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with speciaty training in adult lower extremity reconstructive surgery. Fourth patients on oral or IV steroids present or past are at an increased risk of Avascular Necrosis of the femoral head. In the early stages of the disease process the diagnosis can only be made by an MRI of the hip or a bone scan. Any questions please let me know; I used to do this for a living. just saying it is a Stills related problem is not a diagnosis. To: <Stillsdisease > Gail, My right hip has bothered me for a few years now without any explanation. I have had x-rays and an ultrasound done in the past and didn't show anything, my Rheumy said it is probably the Still's. I hate this disease, I thought we had it under control, then BAM! It's in and out of the resort and another month passes by. One day at a time and pray that tomorrow will be better than today. Sherry A smile doesn't cost anything to give away, but to the person it is given to could mean the whole world.
