Dear Connie,

I'm sorry to hear it's been a difficult day. I'm impressed that you

stood up for yourself with the doctor. It's really okay that he didn't tell

you how to proceed; they usually advise people to go much faster in

discontinuing a drug than is safe.

Most people find that small decreases of Paxil (5%) and waiting until one

feels well to do the next decrease is what works best. We'll be here to

help in any way we can.

Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for people to receive very little

support when choosing to do something like this. Ignore your husband about

the vitamins. If he thought he needed them I'm sure he wouldn't hesitate to

get them. You deserve them.

You may want to get a bottle of Aconitum Napellus 30C, a homeopathic

remedy, to keep on hand in case panic attacks set in (can happen in Paxil

withdrawal). You can read about Aconite here:

Essences, Homeopathy, etc.

Keep your spirits up, Connie. You're embarking on an adventure to regain

your body, mind and spirit.

Regards,

, how do you cut the pills down without them crumbling? I bought a pill cutter but the cuts weren't straight and the pills crumbled. I'm taking the generic brand of paxil. They gave that to me two months ago. I guess this would be the drug that starts with an "S", can't think of it right now. Also I have been reading about those tics people get, etc...and it's freaking me out. When I went from 20 to 12.5 I had spasms in my face and lips. I hope this doesn't mean that this will happen again and be permanent. Any advise? Thanks, Connie

** 20 mg. to 12.5 mg. is a 62% reduction. There's a vast difference

between this and a 1 mg decrease (which is a 5% cut). If you can't cut it

take the pill, dissolve it well in 10 oz if water. Pour off half an oz. and

drink the rest. This will give you 19.5 mg. You can adjust this as you go

along.

Dear Connie,

I made it off paxil, I did it way to fast and have suffered for it. Although there was no help when i did it, i had no idea about tappering off I halved and then quartered.I would follow Cathrine's advice on how to do this to allow your brain to get used to little drops at a time instead of sending it into shock and i mean shock.Coming off slowly doesn't mean you will be symptom free and all the weird things can and do still happen. With being in this group you can tell us anything that is going on and we can tell you if it's withdrawal no matter how nutty you think it might sound. There are enough of us here that have made it off the drugs and lived to tell the tale tho many have not been so lucky they had no idea what was happening to them. All i can say is thank god for the internet it's how i found out i wasn't alone going through what was happening.

As far as spasms with paxil it can happen a lot in any organ in your body any muscle including your brain even if your taking full dose it can happen as the stuff can backfire, it did with me.It's evil stuff.

Hugs Ros
