Guest guest
Our hospital outpatient PT, OT, ST clinic is looking into expanding into massage therapy not a part of skilled therapy. I understand that most payors will not reimburse for massage therapy, and we would likely need to focus on private pay. These are some of the questions that I have: 1. Can you bill for massage therapy using the CPT code for massage if it is only a massage therapist that is involved in the care? It only refers to " physician, or therapist " in the CPT book (does that include massage therapist?) 2. How do you document? 3. Do you require Dr's prescription? 4. What about lymphedema treatment- Is that billable if done by a massage therapist? Any info. or references would be appreciated. Thank you!
