Guest guest
Note: forwarded message attached. We expect that some time this week the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA). We urgently need you to let your Representative know that natural health consumers--all 150 million of us--oppose this plan. Send a letter to stop CAFTA. The President and pro-corporate members of Congress are pushing for approval of CAFTA, which would expand NAFTA to six more countries in our hemisphere (Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua). As long as this agreement fails to protect dietary supplement choice and opens the way for restrictive dietary supplement laws like those encouraged by the Codex vitamin and mineral guidelines, dietary supplement consumers should oppose it. Tell your Representative to vote no on CAFTA. Defeating CAFTA does nothing to change Codex, the WTO or any other existing aspect of the world trade system. It does prevent strengthening, through expansion, of the current trading system, which weakens protection of dietary supplement consumer choices and undermines significant opportunities for health improvement offered by robust worldwide trade in dietary supplements. Act now. Preserve the free trade of vitamins, herbs, and minerals.
