Guest guest
> Just curious; what do you mean when you say you had heart palps? It's when your heart does a few extra beats really quickly. I can feel mine. But also understand that everyone in their lifetime can have a palpitation for some reason. And I...I have Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP), which means my Mitral Valve is floppy and not firm like yours. So when my heart beats, it does not get the same amount of blood through that yours does, and my heart beats a little faster than others. And MVP can cause a few palps. Very benign, in my case. SO when I got on Armour with it's T3 (which my body had not had enough of for 20 LONG years!!), it aggravated those normal-for-me palps a little. I would feel maybe one or two a day for about a week after I raised each dose. Then they'd be gone. BUT, when I added 1/4 grain to my then 2 grains (which was my optimal dose, and may still be), it caused MANY MANY palps for several hours for a few days. Now THAT was scarey, and it told me that I needed to go back down to 2 grains. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Do you know what is weird. Sometimes during my PMS week I would get palpitations. Just weird. So far I haven't noticed it on Thyrolar. Which leads me to a question - I know many of you split up your Armour and take it during the day. Should I be doing that or should I stick to what seems to be working (taking the one dose in the morning after I eat. Yes I know that its preferred to take it on an empty stomach but because of my schedule this works out better. And I make certain I am consistent. ) Lastly I am happy that my allergies are virtually non existent this year. Usually I live on OTC allergy stuff from mid April through our first hard freeze in Oct but this year, even with a wet spring, I haven't had to take anything. Woo Hoo. Louise PS Drs office hasn't called with the results yet for my blood test. Hopefully I'll get them tomorrow.

Should I be doing that or should I stick to what seems to be working (taking the one dose in the morning after I eat. Gracia on our list takes hers all at one time. Topper (or is it ) takes hers several times during the day. Others split it twice a day. The theory is that since your own thyroid releases it throughout the day, it might be better to also give it to yourself at least twice a day. I take 1/2 in the morning and the other half around 1:30 or 2ish. When you take Armour (or Thyrolar), the T3 peaks in about 2 hours. I especially want that peak in the late afternoon when my circadian rhythm is at it's lowest. It also appears that the majority of Armour docs recommend the splitting. But it's entirely up to you and how you feel you are doing. Hope that helps. Janie
Guest guest
It's me Topper... I'm the one that takes is a gazillion times a day... 5 actually.... I'd been without hormone for several years and my body was way run down.. I have no thyroid and the frequent dosing seems to be a postive for me.. I don't have ups and downs during the day doing it this way -with the frequent small dosing I seem to have more consistant levels... ...so it works for me.. but may not be something that others would need to do... Guest guest
The textbook definition is the ability to feel your heart beat. Sometimes this happens because of a flip-flop feeling (like MVP gives, though you do not have to have MVP to have that feeling, it happens to everyone now and then) sometimes it happens when your heart is beating fast. Sometimes when your heart is beating slow...it is simply the sensation of feeling your heart without trying. My palps on Levoxyl were SO bad that I could not eat or sleep. All my life consisted of was feeling my heart beating 24/7. I think it literally drove me crazy. It was something right out of edgar allen poe. I am on lower than the " recomended " dose of co-Q 10, but then I am small. It seems in low doeses that the co-q 10 and the magnesuim have really helped in the way of getting my heart palps down. There is nothing wrong with my heart, that has been throughly checked. So, it was a matter of getting my heart to slow and then for me to de-stress, as man was I stressed from that! Guest guest
When I get palps which is not all the time and apparently when I get over stressed as it happened last night when I was upset, I tend to get this strange feeling in my chest. Like sometimes I even get the feeling before it happens so I know it's coming. Sometimes I have no feeling at all. I have gotten them more often now that he upped my synthroid dose. The feeling does border on a dull pain and is quite uncomfortable. Does anyone else here get this with their palps? I have it now and feel kind of nautious too boot, my chest feels funny. I have had my heart hooked up before and they say I am fine. My endo is not happy that I am having them though he does not feel they are caused from the meds. Not having that good of a time lately with my dh so I think if I am still feeling crappy when I go to work that I will leave early if I don't start to feel better. Sometimes once I get moving I feel better. It's supposed to be our last good day of this week any way. Hope you all have a great day!! My heart would pound really fast, then it would slow down very low for me but still pound hard. I couldn't sleep and felt like I was going to crawl out of my skin, which is similar to how I feel when I have caffeine. But my adrenals are working overtime, so I am trying to find someone to address those before I go back on armour.
Guest guest
Hi, Bev. I've had MVP (mitral valve prolapse) since childhood (they say I was born with it). I get palpitations all the time (since age 14). It's more than a rapid pulse/heartbeat. It's actually pretty forceful, and in fact when I get them they rock my body back and forth, and if I sit still... other people can see it happening. For me, they can last less than a minute or as long as an hour (longest one to-date). If it lasts more than a couple of minutes I'm breathless, almost too breathless to talk (like I've just finished a sprint). If they last a long time then I'm aching and tired all over, and they usually make me sweat when they last longer than 20min. I have no feelings of anxiety, panic, fear...nothing like that. It's just, well, strange feeling. Oh, and the really long ones can make my chest ache a bit. When I've taken my pulse during these episodes my heart rate is almost too fast to count, and the most I've counted while having one is 180 bpm. This doesn't panic me or freak me out because I've been having these since age 14. They come on for no reason at all (sometimes while I'm just sitting there), but often come on due to a sneeze, cough, sudden movement, bending over to pick something up, and even laughing too hard. Maybe the best way to describe it is like this: Do you know that feeling when you get REALLY startled, so startled that you grab your chest? Remember that INITIAL " aching somersault " your heart does when that happens? Well, palpitations often start out like that, with that initial " flip " feeling. However, not always. ) They're sort of an enigma. But with MVP I also get that third heartbeat (it's obvious when you feel it) and heart flutters, like a hundred butterflies flipping about in my chest. But the palpitations are very obvious and you KNOW when it happens that it's a whole lot more than a faster heartbeat. It's an EXTREMELY fast heartbeat with FORCE. Hope that helps. Your ANS overreacts to something your body needs, kind of like a Vietnam vet reacts if a butterfly flys by. Keep us informed, , how things work out for you.
