Guest guest
Hi Kim, I can tell you about my experience but this is just MY experience..... I went to a doctor in the Philadelphia area. Wasn't thrilled about it but had no other choice because I was so sick that I would not have been able to travel. Anyway, my doctor told me that he wouldn't remove the capsule up against the chest cavity because my implants weren't hard and he felt that the capsule probably wasn't all that thick. I fought him on this and he told me that if the capsule against the chest cavity was tissue paper thin, there was more of a chance that I could have a lung collapse because he would have to scrap. Told the same thing that you were. He didn't want to go into the chest cavity. I researched this and found that it was true. I read a book before hand and also did some research on the internet. However, I still wasn't thrilled that some capsule would remain. Not only that, he is one of the best plastic surgeons in philly and charged me $8,000. I thought that this was really high. This didn't include a lift. Anyway, when he went in, he found that the capsule was thick and removed most of it as it just peeled off like tissue paper. Some of it he couldn't get to and I have a very small amout of capsule left. Sounds like my situation was about the same as your situation. After explant which was done on November 29 '04 a lot of my symptoms disappeared almost immediately. I still have the fatigue and aches and pains. I'm also too sick to work but when I look back and remember just how sick I was, I really have come a long way. Since explant, I've had a tremendous amount of stress in my life. Also I just started to detox 2 weeks ago. I consider this a factor of not feeling better than I do. After the report came back from Dr. Blais, I was terribly worried because I found that what was causing my illness was abscesses in the capsule and I knew that some capsule had been left in there. My point being is that I have improved tremendously. Alot of my symptoms are gone and that was without detoxing, proper diet and avoiding stress. I can not even begin to tell you whether you will be 100% again but this was what I went through and how I feel now. I'm surprised that Dr. Melmed told you that the capsule would desolve. I've read many articles explaining that the capsule will not desolve. I think that you will know more after the report from Dr. Blais. I highly recommend avoiding stress, detoxing and a proper diet to get better. Have any of your symptoms disappeared since explant? Beth S.
