I've read the same thing. Makes you wonder. Also, let it be known that though there can be good reasons to test for adrenals before you start on Armour, and though the package insert on thyroid STATES to test adrenals before you start, the vast majority of people do not get their adrenals tested, start on thyroid, and do fine. I especially want Ella to understand that so she won't scare herself to death!! But do get your adrenals tested if you can!! Janie

Guest guest
Huge difference between adrenal fatige OR exaustion and 's aka primary adrenal insufficiency. In fatigue or even exhaustion, the adrenals STILL peak in the morning and lower by midnight. In other words, the gland still work properly. 's disease is caused by A. overuse of steriods for prolonged period of time causing the adrenal cortex to shut down irreparably. B Autoimmune disorder that attacks the adreanal glands causing atrophy C. adrenal damage due to hemorage of the adrenal cortex due to antiblood clotting drugs or accident (often autoaccident) D Tuberculosis E pituitary failure (seconday addisons) There are other causes, but addisons, true adrenal cortex failure that will kill you, is dueto damage to the gland, not just overuse of it. People with adrenal fatigue/exhaustion recover because the glands still work and they need a break, often the still have the aldosterone which is what will kill you if you do not have it. Cortisol, or lack there of will not kill you (unless you take too much for too long) it will only make you miserable. Cortisol is the reason you may feel like crap on thyroid meds, and need some, but going on thryoid meds wih adrenal fatigue will be uncomfortable, but not deadly...unless you lack aldosterone. The only way to lack aldosterone is to have damage to the glands. I hope this clears things up.
Guest guest
Makes sense to me now, . But can I ask if I'm understanding this correctly?? When you're explaining how adrenals work while EXHAUSTED and you say " peak in the morning and lower by midnight. " That means we would feel better in the early part of the day and get fatigued in the evening? Am I understanding that right? Guest guest
OK...your cortisol output peaks at about an hour after you get up in the morning (to help you wake and function) and then goes very low around midnight to let you sleep. However, lets define peak...it is the highest part of the day, that doesn't mean it is high. Mine is low in the normal range, so it doesn't help me get out of bed or motivated *LOL* But generally, fatigue increases through out the day, just like hypothyroid. > Makes sense to me now, .
