Guest guest
Alright, I have decided to seek out a new doctor. I have talked to many people in the area and have found a P.A. who is very into holistic treatment. I am going to call her tomorrow and make an appointment to talk over all the MS problems I am having. The thing is, I know she will then send me to a neurologist. I saw two different quacks several years ago, before going to the Univ. Of Iowa and seeing the head neuro there who gave me a dx of what I now found out is "probable secondary progressive" MS. How it can be probable is beyond me, but I got my records out and was rereading. Anyhow, the one thing I did not do was get a spinal tap. I am pretty sure anyone I see will want me to have one, and I have had such bad experiences with epidurals that a spinal tap is just an absolute NO from my persepective. Does this mean I will never be on an ABC drug or that I will never have a positive dx??? Anyway...... Anita
Guest guest
First, good luck with the new doctor. I think of holistic medicine as treating the "whole" person and not just symptoms so "I" think that is a step in the right direction. Second, I got my diagnosis without a spinal tap. I did have one some time later the initially I was told with lumbar puncture. I do not know if that will be true in your case, but it is possible to get the dx without the spinal tap. I am sorry that you are having to deal with this. Sometimes it seems so unfair to have to go through so much to find out that you have something that will cause you to go through so much more. Guest guest
I had bands show up on my tap. My MRI had only 1 lesion. Guest guest
You don't have to get a Spinal Tap to get a dx. ) From the information I remember my Mother sharing with me years ago, "Probable" was a good dx for MS. I'm probably not saying that well, but I bet she (or others) can clear that up. LOL Challis Alright, I have decided to seek out a new doctor. Guest guest
I am going to a holistic doctor. Yes it was scary, and yes I feel terrible when detoxing but I am still glad and I will not stop going or doing what he says. Anita Sorrells wrote: Alright, I have decided to seek out a new doctor. Guest guest
Anita, I wouldn't worry about getting a spinal tap, if he already mentioned your diagnose. I had a spinal tap and mine came back normal even though I had an MRI and had white leasions, consitent with MS.
