Guest guest
There has been alot of talk about silica. Some say it is good others say it is not. You can absolutely have an allergy to anything. If you are allergic to it, then I can see having a problem taking it. However, like the posting from Dawn, I had read somewhere that the body needs it. It is essential for bone formation. There are many other things listed about it. Like the hair and nails. I have been taking magnesium which has silica in it. I haven't really noticed that it has helped me all that much. Don't know whether it is because I haven't been on it all that long or what. One thing that I do notice is that my nails are growing so quickly that I'm constantly having to cut them. My hair used to grow that fast but since explant my hair is growing very slowly. Don't know if it is because of all the new hair growth or what. I checked some of my other supplements. Milk thistle, grape seed extract and vitamins that I purchased from a health food store all contain silica. However the milk thistle and grape seed extract purchased from vitacost do not. I think that I will be getting tested for an allergic reaction. Since explant, I've noticed that my arms, legs and collarbone area have appeared to lose some of that puffiness that I had. However my upper abdomen is a real problem. There are days that I can't even wear a bra because it is just too tight and cuts into my skin. Other days, it is loose but if I over do, I can actually feel the bra getting tighter and tighter. My body is just bloating up. It just isn't normal and of course not one doctor that I've seen can explain this to me. Can it be an allergy? I'm thinking that anything is possible. Beth S.
