Here are the encyclopedia definitions... there is a difference once

it is proscessed but it does appear that the silicone has silica in

it

Silica or silicon dioxide, chemical compound, SiO2. It is insoluble

in water, slightly soluble in alkalies, and soluble in dilute

hydrofluoric acid. Pure silica is colorless to white. It occurs in

several forms and is widely and abundantly distributed throughout

the earth, both in the pure state and in silicates, e.g., in quartz

(agate, amethyst, chalcedony, flint, jasper, onyx, and rock

crystal), opal, sand, sandstone, clay, granite, and many other

rocks; in skeletal parts of various protists and animals, such as

certain sarcodines (see Sarcodina), diatoms, and sponges, and in the

stems and other tissue of higher plants. Silica has many important

uses. It is used as a filler for paint and rubber; in making

ordinary glass; in ceramics; in construction; and in the preparation

of other substances, e.g., silicon carbide. Fused quartz is pure

amorphous silica; it is used in special chemical and optical

apparatus. Because it has a low thermal coefficient of expansion, it

withstands sudden changes in temperature and can be used in parts

that are subjected to wide ranges of heat and cold. Unlike ordinary

glass, it does not absorb infrared and ultraviolet light.

sil·i·cone (s & #301;l' & #301;-kôn')

n.

Any of a group of semi-inorganic polymers based on the structural

unit R2SiO, where R is an organic group, characterized by wide-range

thermal stability, high lubricity, extreme water repellence, and

physiological inertness and used in adhesives, lubricants,

protective coatings, paints, electrical insulation, synthetic

rubber, and prosthetic replacements for body parts.

Silicone, polymer in which atoms of silicon and oxygen alternate in

a chain; various organic radicals, such as the methyl group, CH3,

are bound to the silicon atoms. Silicones, which are unusually

stable at extreme temperatures (both high and low), may occur as

liquids, rubbers, resins, or greases. Silicones are prepared from

halides of organic silicon compounds by decomposition. Such

compounds are chosen and used in mixtures that allow the desired

molecular weight and degree of cross-linking to be obtained in the

final polymer. The safety of inserting silicone prostheses into the

body was questioned in a large product-liability case involving

breast implants.

Thanks for these !

in the silicone defintion it says:

" physiological inertness "

I disagree with that. In fact, I believe that claiming that silicone

is 'inert' is one of the longtime PR disinformation pieces

frequently disseminated for years.

I heard on British TV their head PS claiming this about 7 years

ago ...

Here is a study that indicates that silicone is NOT inert:

13. Peritoneal Response To Silicone Fluid. A Histologic Study.

Brody,

Gerald L., M.D. and Frey, F., M.D. Arch Surg. Vol. 96,

February

1968, PP 237-241. (Plaintiffs' Exhibit 586)

Injection of silicone fluid into rats produced histiocytic

granulomas. Fact

that granulomas exist and that silicone is transported to draining

lymph

nodes indicates that silicone is not inert.

Here's a bunch of discussions on this on the newsgroup over the

years:

Ok your not going to like it, but watch this. I buy a product from a drug

company that makes me ill. The doctors and the drug company say " NO thats

not whats wrong with you it's something else. " Here let me give ya' a

perscription. Guess what, the persciptions have a component in them that

makes you even sicker and the drug company knows that it will. What comes

next, another doctor, then whats next, more medication, then what's next,

you get sicker, then what's next, another doctor and another medication and

you get sicker and so on and so on... See how it works?

I make a product that makes you ill, then i make a product to treat you that

keeps you ill. I might not be very nice but hey guess what, you don't know

that the product i am giving you to get well, is actually making you sicker

and keeping you from getting well. Hey guess what, end result, I'm getting

richer every day, soon you'll be to sick to fight me, and pretty soon, if

you keep letting me slowly posion you, you'll be dead and I'll still be

making money!

Does this terrible unrealistic senerio sound familar to

anyone, cause it does to me. The day my childrens doctors told me that the

silicone was what was making them sick I went to the pharamacy to pick up a

perscription for the baby i was holding in my arms and the label on the

bottle was the name of the company that had posined us with the silicone

from the implants they told me were FDA approved and SAFE! I have NEVER

been mader in my whole life. Lana

Lana,

If this wasn't so true, it would be considered science

fiction! . . .

One of our occasional readers told me that a major

drug company discusses in their company newsletter

their plans to get people on drugs from birth to

grave! The idea is to make any number of conditions

that normally wouldn't be considers a problem, a

disorder! The provide drugs for it! The same companies

that make our drugs also make our pesticides and

herbicides!

In the meantime, our insurance and medical costs

skyrocket. . . One our of six Americans are on a

Medicaid program now!

When is this madness going to end?

Hugs,

Rogene

This message was sent while the listing was active.

Thank you so very much for your reply. When i see stories like this, i

really wonder why us women do it in the first place. i guess my main

question i keep asking myself is, " am i willing to risk my health, for

larger breasts? " at the moment i am not going to go through with it. its

just so tempting sometimes. its really sad thoughh that us women are even in

this situation. we should be happy with what we got given! oh well, i guess

its that neverending race to perfection.

once again, thank you so much for the information, i really appreciate it:)

take care,

sam

Respond to this question in My Messages.

This is a response I just received from a young girl after answering an

e-bay question for her this morning about implants. God can work in the

strangest ways. Lana
