Guest guest
Hi , thanks for the lovely welcome My name is jennifer, i just got diagnosed with ms a couple weeks ago but have suspected that i had it since my mother was diagnosed 5 years. I have struggled with serious fatigue all through my mid twentys til present. 2 years ago, i had my first symtom other then the fatigue , optic nueritis in my right eye. unfortunately i went to a old fashioned dr. and she wouldn't even consider talking about ms " you just want to have ms " she said " ms is MULTIPLE we don't even consider it till you have 2 or more attacks " pffft! of course now i know thats hogwash. so about 6 weeks ago i started having " hot patches " on my left hand and then one night my whole right arm went numb. i paniced and went to the er ( thinking what if this is a stroke) I never expected that that trip would lead me to my diagnoses but it did. was refered to a neuro, got an mri then a lumbar puncture and here i am. just to make things more interesting, i found out that i was pg just after my diagnosis. we have decided to go ahead and see the pregnancy through, so that took the pressure to decide on a med off, but i am overwhelmed with the amount of info out there about ms! I thought i knew alot because my mom has been telling me lots over the past 5 years, boy was i surprised at what i didn't know! For now I am going to try to keep to the swank diet, may not be able to keep fat intake as low as he recomends during pregnancy but want to learn it for after. have been a LLL member for years and now I am having to give serious consideration to bottlefeeding, so i can get on meds sooner. Its a big decision, glad i have a while to mull. on one hand bfing is a protection against ms ( for the baby) but i have heard that postpartum is a high risk time for exs, i don;t want to have a serious ex and lose mobility. i guess thats about it for my introduction maybe some stats i am 34, live in sw missouri mom to 5 18 year old ,out of house, joseph 16 yr old, supposed to be 50/50 with dad but seems like hes always here (stepmom issues) kyle 11yr old lives primarily with dad ricky 8yrold lives primarily with dad too, ryan above kids with x 3 yr old serena with me 24 7 recently weaned and still mad about it, lol. dh is richard, been happily married 5 yrs, hes in supportive denial mode right now. wants me to take care of myself but doesn't want to talk about it or possible problems in future. wants to take things one day at a time. could be worse thanks for making me feel welcome jennifer

Guest guest
Hi , I've had two children since I began noticing something going on with my body. I've nursed both (still nursing) and found no great change as can happen. I think it depends on the person and situation, really. I know some feel those hormones of nursing will help keep attacks at bay. <shrug> I suppose you could always nurse and if you feel your MS is not doing well, and feel it's something you need to medicate right then, you could easily stop nursing and go to bottle. ?? My Mother also has MS. We have five children. Two sons (18 and nearing-15), two daughters (5 and nearing-2) and have also raised my ½-brother for several years (nearing-19). It's nice to meet you.
