I would like to make sure that I was clear in what I said yesterday and I

wanted to clarify what " I " was talking about. " I " was not attacking any one

particular political group nor was " I " talking about politics. I was simply

responding to the gals open question " Do you think HILIARY will help us? " I

was simply pointing out reasons why I felt Mrs. Clinton hasn't been and is

not going to help us. I never said the word republican or democrat some of

the other ladies did. I was reponding to a name, not a political group.

Personally I think every one of the political groups has let us down. I did

hear some one mention that Barbra Boxer. Now she's a fire ball. That is a

woman who stands up for what she thinks is right. And just so I don't offend

anyone, I don't even know if she is a republican or a democrat. Personally I

don't think it matters what party they are in. If you touch their heart,

they will listen and they will help, if they don't you go to someone else.

The one thing that Mrs. Clinton did that I admired was after she introduced

the HMOS and that little four year old girl died from kiddney failure Mrs.

Clinton apologized. She came out and said that she had no idea that having

HMOS would keep people from getting the medical care they need. That little

girl died because of restrictions that the insurance companies (HMOS) have

placed on our doctors. At least Mrs. Clinton was willing to admitt she made

a mistake so I give her a " right on " for admitting she made a mistake. Sadly

though the HMOS (HER baby, her 1st medical care bill) are still there and

the restrictions are still there too. I'm not saying that she hasn't tried

to change it. I am merily complementing her on her willingness to admitt she

made a mistake. You don't see that very often, especially not in the

goverment! I have to stick to my convictions though when I say that the

medical care bill she introduced that limited and restricted us from seeing

the specialists we needed was her medial bill and it was introduced during

the time I said it was. There was not one thing in that letter i wrote that

wasn't true and it's not my fault that all of those dates just happen to

fall together.

When my boys WERE sick and needed help the HMOS didn't want to let our

doctors reffer them to see the specialists they needed to see. I had to

threaten to sue thier doctors for malpractice and file charges against them

for medical neglect and then I had to take our insurance company (HMO) to

court to get them to help us. It was me against two attorney generals at

least five state workers, several insurance reps. accompanied by insurance

doctors. At the end of the case my sons and I were given any and all medical

care and tests we needed to treat our illnesses, assigned a special case

worker within the insurance company and it was determained that my boys had

an autoimmune disorder caused by the silicone. Sadly not a whole lot of

people are able to do that for one reason or another and they shouldn't have

too. How are you supposed to deal with a problem if you can't mention whats

causing it because someone might take it personally? If you were to hear me

say " I'm gonna try to get the CEO from Mentor to talk to the FDA for us "

wouldn't you say something to me? Would you sit back and watch me waste my

time or would you offer some words of advice to try and guide me in a

different direction?

I'm confussed as to what you guys do and or don't want me to say. I am who I

am. I read, I study, I research everything I get my hands on and I tend to

lay it out on the table when the oppurtunity presents itself. I have a bad

habit of not caring about whether someone likes me or not I just state the

information that I've read and I know to be true. I don't want to take up

your valuble time arguing over whether or not what i said was nice. Trust me

there is nothing about any of this thats nice. These issues are ugly all the

way around. Lies, diect, greed, minipulation, enve, lust, desperation,

mutulation, none of these things are pretty so you can't expect that the

conversations are always going to be pretty! I am sorry if I have once

again said something that I shouldn't have. Now that I think back I remember

why I dropped out of the support groups. You have to spend so much time

haggling over things that don't matter. I wasn't in the group for an hour

before I was chastised for stating some things that were true and told that

I wasn't being nice or Christian like. To me the things I reffered to are

siginiicant, to you there not. Thats ok. I don't like jucie from juicer but

I didn't get on here and tell anyone that they shouldn't say that a Happy

juicers is better than a Pinky juicer. I simply read your e-mails took the

information I wanted from it and discarded the rest! I don't mean to be a

pain in the ass. I am very thankful for ALL of the things that you ladies

ARE and HAVE been doing. You give and give and give of yourselfs everyday to

help others and that is trully comendable. I am so glad your there for the

women that need your help. I've never really had the patients to do that. I

hope that I haven't offened anyone or caused anyone any problems when you

sent me the invitations to join I just did it, with out thinking as usual. I

know me though and I will probablly just get in the way, so I wish you all

GOOD LUCK in your efforts and know that my thoughts and that everything I do

and have been doing all these years, are designed to help you as well. With

love and best wishes to each and everyone of you. Lana

Lana,

I really admire your fight to help your kids! . . .

Not many women would think to pursue things to that

extent. Hopefully you will help guide women here, and

on SiliconeKids, in how to get the help they need for

themselves and their children.

What you said about the insurance company's keeping

the doctors from telling patients what they need to

know, unless they ask, astounds me! How can they do

this?

I need to give you a little history of the group.

Right now, I know you're confused. You've hit a few

hot buttons that you couldn't have known are present.

In the past, we've had women who come to the group for

the specific purpose of making trouble. They/she

challenge everything said. In most groups, that would

OK. But we've found that stress is something all of us

must avoid whenever possible. In this group, we try

extra hard to keep an atmosphere where women feel free

to express themselves without being challenged or put

down.

If some of us have an experience that has proved

otherwise, we prefer to describe our own experience

rather than tell someone what they think or feel is

wrong. If there is a personal disagreement, it's best

to discuss the problem in personal messages, not on

the group. Usually problems boil down to a

misunderstanding.

Let's face it, the silicone experience has affected

our brains as well as our bodies. . . We are

different. We tend to misunderstand things and take

things personally. We're all in the same boat. . . So

what we ask is that we all give each other a little

more space than we would in the physical world. We are

all here for the same reason . . . to understand the

implant experience and to get well!

If you think someone is attacking you personally, I

suggest writing a note to that person and ask them

what they meant. If you feel someone is ignoring you,

ask them personally. If it comes to point where

someone is irritating, delete their messages unread.

Same with threads that one doesn't like.

Everyone has something to contribute and gain from

being here. We're glad you're here too!

Hugs,

Rogene

Lana,

What's happening is that people are working

person-to-person to convince the FDA NOT to approve

Mentor's petition to put gel implants back on the

market. We have some friends in Washington, D.C. who

are working very hard on this! Dr. Zuckerman,

Ph.D is one of our leading advocates.

We have a number of politicians in our court . . . Sad

to say, most of them are Democrats! I don't think the

Republicans realize that their own mothers, sister,

daughters, children or employees may be affected!

There are alot of politicians who haven't figured out

that, once a woman become disabled, it falls on the

public to support her and pay for her health care.

So far, there was a hearing in April where Inamed was

turned down, and Mentor was approved. . . This means

that the panel makes a recommendation to the FDA to

approve the implants, making them legal to use. Right

now, women have to be part of a study to get gel

implants - supposedly anyway!

Mentor's study was full of holes! When women had their

implants removed, they were dropped from the study!

Some women said that, when they told their surgeon

they were having problems, their doctor didn't report

their problems as required.

If you'll check Ilena's webpage,

www.implantawareness.org, you will learn more than you

ever wanted to know! She has links that will take you

to the complete transcripts of the April hearings.

Rogene

No, WE have the RIGHT to file a petition to stop them from selling the

implants. We don't need a legislator to do it for us. Have any of the

support groups actually filed a for a petition to stop them? The guidelines

for filing a petition to stop them are layed out in the FDA's homepage.

Lana,

I don't know anything about a citizen's petition! . .

.. Can you tell us more about how we go about it? . . .

I figure we have one to two weeks before the decision

is made. Do you think we can do it that quick? Could

we get them taken off the market if they are approved

with a petition?

I'm working on a note for EBay now.

Do you have an address where I can get to it quickly?

Thanks,

Rogene

Go into the main website of the FDA. There is a section on the front page

that says something about filing a peteion I have to recheck the actual

wording. It's on the left hand side of the website. And YES anyone person or

citizens group has the right to file!
