Darling Kathy:

Thank you for posting this. This woman is going to have to go through what we have all gone through. In my opinion a woman looks fat with big breasts, it looks as if we have had very little influence on these women. Who will give support to women who are being implanted now? They should know by now that these devices are not safe. The plastic surgeons and the pharmaceuticals will get rich by these women when they become sick.

I disagree with this writer because most all of the models do not have breast implants today. The very thin look is back and they all want to be a size 0. Who ever invented these sizes should have their brains checked for brain damage.

This is madness.

Love you....Lea

Whew Kathy, this is a good one!

I seen this girl on TV. last week who did something of the same, but

a bit opposite. She took a picture to the Plastic Surgeon's office,

mind set on breast implant's, big one's at that. The picture was of

Carmen Electra, (hope that last name is spelt correctly), she told

the Dr. that she looked a bit like Carmen, had about the same body

size, but not the boob's, so if he would implant her the same size,

this would make her dream come true, she would be complete!

Well, she liked the breast implant's, but did wish she had gotten

them smaller, they were heavy, and the only attention she got after

this was on her chest, she had no identity, and felt cheap!

Goes to show one...you love a certain hair-style, go and get your's

styled the same way, go home and be un-happy, found you couldn't

change your face. How many times have women done this, we can't

change ourselves to look like someone else, or make something work

for us the same as it would for other's. We need to be ourselves!

Thanks Kathy,

Sam

EXCERPT: The last time I had a mammogram, the technician told me that people who have breast implants do not realize that often the mammogram cannot detect lumps because the implants block the screening.

Considering implants? Think about the life ahead

By Sue Hutchison

Mercury News

There were some interesting responses to last week's column about Sahlstrom, the 43-year-old San woman who decided to have her breast implants removed and get back to her true self. I heard from women who said that they also wanted to get rid of their implants, either because they were worried about the medical risks or tired of feeling like phonies -- or both.Others e-mailed to applaud Sahlstrom's decision and lament the ``Hooters''-happy climate that makes otherwise sensible women think their lives would be better if they looked more like the voluptuous female silhouettes on truck tire-flaps.Then there was this e-mail sent by Lee Strickland of Aptos:``I have had breast cancer twice in the same breast. Last year I had the breast removed,'' she wrote. ``My success ratio for the future is excellent because of early detection. The last time I had a mammogram, the technician told me that people who have breast implants do not realize that often the mammogram cannot detect lumps because the implants block the screening.``I understand that many young women are getting implants as a graduation present, not knowing or understanding what the future may bring.''Warning to teensEven many plastic surgeons, who acknowledge the ``graduation gift'' mini-trend, issue this same warning about mammograms to young women. The increasing number of teenagers getting breast implants should not be surprising considering that breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic-surgery procedures, second only to liposuction. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of breast augmentation surgeries has more than doubled since 1997, and almost 335,000 women got breast implants last year.Only a tiny percentage of those procedures, 4,211, were among women 19 years old or younger. But the number has been climbing steadily over the past decade. Here's a message to the girls who are dreaming of a graduation boob-job and the parents who are considering paying for it: The American Society of Plastic Surgeons does not encourage the procedure for very young women. Dr. Wells, who has a practice in Long Beach and was the co-chair of the society's breast implant task force, actively discourages breast augmentation for teenagers.Wells said that a few of his 16-year-old daughter's friends have come to his office to ask about breast implants, and this is what he tells them: ``Even at 18, you may not have completed your growth, and you may not want implants down the line. Also, you're committing to future surgeries, because implants don't last forever. If you have children, the implants may even hinder your ability to nurse. And, yes, it may be more difficult to get an accurate mammogram.''Why rush into it?It's a sad statement on our culture, which now includes insta-plastic surgery TV shows, that someone barely out of puberty would be convinced that she needs fake breasts to confront the world. Granted, there are thousands of women who have had breast augmentation and love it. But the great majority don't make the decision to have implants until they are at least in their 30s and have given life a chance without them. Even then, some regret it.One of those women, Sahlstrom, has some advice for teenagers who are considering life with fake breasts: ``I would encourage girls to appreciate themselves for who they are and their own uniqueness,'' she said in an e-mail. ``Because what they believe they need or want for enhancing their self-image, they already have inside.''Spoken by someone who has been there.

Kirkland keeps abreast of Brit's pregnancy

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/318699p-272535c.html

When it comes to Britney Spears' tabloid-ready pregnancy, even Sally Kirkland is getting into the act.

The 60-year-old former Andy Warhol muse and Academy Award nominee - for Best Actress in the 1987 movie "" - has a stern warning for Mrs. Federline.

"I happen to know Britney Spears' breast-implant doctor," Kirkland told Webster Hall gadabout Baird in the wee hours yesterday, "and I just hope she does not breastfeed. Because if she does, she could give her baby so many future [health] problems."

Spears' flack responded sarcastically: "Thank you, Sally, for your concern for Britney, but she does not have breast implants, so you don't need to worry."

The flack added: "I'm a little confused, because isn't there patient-doctor privilege?"

Kirkland - a former Vogue model - said she suffered terrible side effects from the implants she obtained after losing a string of acting jobs because she was flat-chested.

"The director Bob Fosse once said to me, 'You are the most brilliant actress I have ever seen, but I cannot use you because of the small size of your breasts,'" Kirkland recounted. "Now I am the poster girl for women with diseases from breast implants. Fortunately, my problems are currently in remission."

Kirkland, in town to hype her latest indie movie effort, "Neo Ned," delivered her cautionary comments while lying in bed in ' West Village apartment. She was apparently exhausted after whipping up a bunch of collages for "Star Art II," an upcoming exhibition of celebrity art at the Chelsea Art Museum.

Lea,

Before I had my first child I was very thin, 98 pounds and five foot seven. I looked like a bag of bones. except for the large breasts I had. A man actually told my boyfriend that I looked deformed. I learned to wear large shirts and sports bra's to hide my deformity.

People can be so mean especially when your young and impressionable.

Yes, my daughter had the same problem, 36 D and size 7 jeans. She hid her

size in huge shirts. And they are just as cruel if you are tiny and almost

flat.

It is a societal problem, and should be addressed in middle school, as many

of us have long stated.

Honey, I'm so sorry about my comment. I believe you and I'm sure that many women have large breasts even though they are thin. When I had my breast implants put in I weighed 98lbs. and I always wore big shirts to hide my breasts. My implants were a B cup, but now I have no left breast and a C cup in my right breast! Could the capsule be growing? My wish is to be cleaned out properly, but I cannot have any more surgery because of respiratory problems.

Love you....Lea
