Guest guest
Hi Danna, congratulations to such a success, keept it going! And thanks so much for your sharing it with us ! I Wish we all had access to such a Pro as you have in Dr. Vliet. Since you hadn't had periods for a long time (?), I wonder how you /Dr. Vliet determined when to start those 12 days of prometrium. Are you using the " crinone " /now " prochieve " gel? and how much per might ? I have recently had a uterine scan which showed 10mm, and since otherwise I seem to be okay hormone & energywise, I decided to go with the prochieve, lowest dose since I seem to be " progesterone dominant " , I still don't know when to start the 12 days to hopefully get a shedding effect going... ? How many months did you do the 12-day thing until you had the bleeding ? Guest guest
Hi Dana, Thanks so much for sharing this! How often do you put the Vivelle dot on? Congrats on the bleed and to be on the way to feel better. Tell us more how you like Vliet herself. I am envious! Happy New Year to you too! Madeleen Dana Buckner wrote: Hey guys,About three months ago, I got tired of flailing aroundin fear and doubt and speculating and adjusting dosesof hormones randomly myself after going off the WileyProtocol because all the docs I had tried hadn'treally helped my intense fatigue, depression, lowenergy, uterine hyperplasia, weird symptoms, so Idecided to go with an expert, Dr. Vliet. Myestradiol in 3 months went from about 50 to 144 atlast reading, TSH came down to normal, T3 and T4 areok, and I feel like I am coming alive again. What isworking for me is Vivelle Dot (estradiol) a patchwhich delivers a steady dose of estradiol and I don'tseem to have those roller coaster fluctuations withthe cycled Wiley Protocol and other cycled protocols Iwas trying. And so nice not to have to be a slave tothe clock and those creams! I use Prometriumvaginally 12 days out of the month or every 6 weeks. On Synthroid for thyroid and now startingtestosterone since she feels my estradiol is nowstabilized. It makes sense to me that regular steadydoses beat the cycling style because I find my moodand mental function now are almost consistently in theballpark (no depression) instead of fluctuating andmaking me nuts. A few months ago I had an ultrasound and uterine biopsy that revealed a 2 centimeterendometrial growth that I couldn't shed despiteseveral different hormone protocols prescribed byseveral docs. I never had a good bleed that shed thelining for years. The past two months I've had 2 goodbleeds with red blood and clots......hooray, finallyshedding the overgrowth. I've been using bloodvalues to check levels, not saliva. I couldspeculate about what works and what doesn't till thecows come home but the proof of the pudding for me ishard facts: Altho all my symptoms haven't completelyabated I feel much better than I have in a long timeand it is worth the expense to work with somebody Itrust. Guest guest
Happy New Year Everyone, I am so grateful this year for you all who have shared so much of yourselves, done so much valuable research that I didn't have time or inclination to do myself, and grateful for the Wiley Protocol that helped move me to a place of desperation so I could mobilize to find competent help. I want to answer the questions you guys put out in response to my report about the protocol Dr. Vliet has put me on. Vivelle Dot dose: 0.1mg estradiol patches --changing them three times weekly. Since I am still having mild hot flashes some nights and what I think is a PMS reaction at the end of Prometrium dosing, she suggested in addition I use EstroGel, one pump at night while on estradiol alone and one pump two times daily when I am on the 12 day a month Prometrium. She suggested I may be still coming down from high WP doses which I quit 3 months ago. I asked her if I could keep the old patch on for a couple days more after I have applied a new one and she said that was fine. In regard to Prometrium I am using 100mg vaginally. (Those little orange round capsules are really meant to be oral but Vliet suggested using them vaginally (more direct to uterus and less systemic effect that way) She said I could start the 12 day cycle every 4 to 6 weeks. Some do it only every 3 months or so but with my fibroids she said this regimen would be better. I got a good bleed starting about 4 days after I stopped the Prometrium on my first cycle, 2 days of red clotty blood and a couple days more of tapering down. Same thing next cycle. Twice now. She said the two day full bleed was enough. The woman herself. My subjective impressions: Dignified, competent, thorough, available to address questions and concerns, attractive, certainly fills a room with a presence of authority that comes with long experience. She wants to come to communities to speak to people who are interested and invites anyone to organize presentations in their cities. I share this with you if there is anything of value in it that may help, but please don't assume that the regimin I am on is for you. I think this has been a danger on internet sites, lay people giving advice to other lay people that may be totally erroneous. I really thought I may have been finished, that at 60 years old I was winding down to some kind of death. But the Great Spirit has a way of surprising me, sometimes at the 13th hour................................. May you all find peace and healing. Guest guest
Thanks much for your information. Dana, still one question. What did Dr. Vliet tell you to do during the bleeds? Do you go off all estradiol during that time? I found 100 mg Prometrium vaginally gave me severe OD symptoms (sore breasts, etc.). Now, I'm using 50 mg progesterone suppository for 10 days. I need to get another ultrasound and then may stretch the cycles out. I hate being off Estrogel for 5 - 7 days a month. Guest guest
Hi Dana, I would love to see Dr. Vliet. If I added up all the expenses for the Dr.s I saw in my local area (NY) I probably could have paid to fly out and see her. I am currently also on Vivelle ..1mg (change it about every 2 days) and I take some extra E2 (transdermal) and have not taken any P for a few months now. I did get a period without the P (still have working ovaries 44) but now I am about 2 mos without and just started taking a little P gel to bring on the period. I am waiting for Vliets book on PCOS to be released and I think I would like to see her sometime in the Spring. I am glad you posted in regard to Vliet because I have been really thinking about seeing her and didn't really want to spend the money but I think in the long run its worth it. Once she sees you in person can you deal with her over the phone after that? Thanks Karin > > Happy New Year Everyone, > > I am so grateful this year for you all who have shared > so much of yourselves, done so much valuable research > that I didn't have time or inclination to do myself, > and grateful for the Wiley Protocol that helped move > me to a place of desperation so I could mobilize to > find competent help. > > I want to answer the questions you guys put out in > response to my report about the protocol Dr. Vliet has > put me on. > > Vivelle Dot dose: 0.1mg estradiol patches --changing > them three times weekly. Guest guest
I'm tempted to ask for a patch myself but I'm such a sensitive allergic person that I know that glue will really bother me. I'm VERY sensitive too, have to even cut lables out of my clothes, LOL. I have tried the Dot, estraderm, climara...........the climara had the stickiest back, couldn't use them. The .1mg V. Dot was the nicest, BUT didn't give me enough E, but two may work.....I could ONLY use them on my legs. I thought my butt would be OK, but NO....couldn't use the other spots they recomend either, THIS may be why I whipped thru um fast too, lasted a day to day and 1/2. Same with the estraderm, the estraderm has more E but doen't stay put as well.......I still use the estraderm now and then, you can get them online too. Worth a shot.....you may love them? OH I get good to high readings with the OOE, how much were you using?? and how often?? I am good at 2mgs. in 5-6 hour intervals.....I range from 8-12 mgs. a day. My Dr. has me weaning off WP slowly, at 6 mgs. a day I start to loose hair, like a dog shedding, but 8-12 I do good. No P, don't have parts, Good luck, don't give up,

Guest guest
the more I think about this, the more it makes sense. I'm tempted to get myself on a patch. I've had it. The E creams and OO I've used seem to have NO effect on me whatsoever. My estradiol levels are always in the 30s! I'm tempted to ask for a patch myself but I'm such a sensitive allergic person that I know that glue will really bother me. This gyno I saw the other day would not prescribed Prometrium. He wanted to give me Megace to stop the bleeding. He looked at me cross-eyed when I told him I wouldn't use anything synthetic. ly, I was just too tired to explain to him. I used my Crinone Gel and the bleeding stopped. > > Hey guys, > > About three months ago, I got tired of flailing around > in fear and doubt and speculating and adjusting doses > of hormones randomly myself after going off the Wiley > Protocol because all the docs I had tried hadn't > really helped my intense fatigue, depression, low > energy, uterine hyperplasia, weird symptoms, so I > decided to go with an expert, Dr. Vliet. Guest guest
.. The E creams and OO I've used seem to have NO effect on me whatsoever. My estradiol levels are always in the 30s! , I used the creams and OO, and using 12mg per day, got a level of 112. My doc had no trouble writing the script at all, and in fact I use a bit more than that now. You are using far less and getting far less satisfaction and your levels show it. I wanted to use less, and tried for many months. I did not get any relief until I used 9mg per day. Is your doc limiting you even with a level of 30? nne

Guest guest
He's not happy that I'm using 4 mgs a day. And you should have seen the gyno's face when I told him that. I wish they would " get with the program " and do some investigating on these creams so they can advise their patients! I feel like some kind of pioneer in their offices because I turn down their synthetics. This is the 21st Century isn't it? > > . Guest guest
Take note: I did NOT have hot flashes using that Wiley base cream. So it's dermatitis or bust! , you may just need MORE OOE to do the job..... can't get more clean than that, LOL. It seems most on the OOE use 10-12 mgs a day......BUT that woud be only be 5 to 6 mgs.BID WP...... so way down from the old days, LOL. Guest guest
I never got higher than 4 mgs a day on OOE. See this is what worries me about NATURAL hormones. Who knows what the compounders are mixing in there? Only the compounders. Unless we have friends who work in a lab and can analyze it, how would we know for SURE what we are getting in the creams? I've used several different pharmacies and I get the same lousy results - no relief from meno symptoms and very low E levels. And doctors would like to BELIEVE the only way you can get cancer is unopposed E, but you can get it ANYWAY if you are prone to it. I swear I think it's just the luck of the draw (family history, etc). This makes me want to just give up on using any hormones, but that is certainly NOT living well. I am just unable to function with all my symptoms. One thing is for sure. NOT using any hormones is not an option for me. When I wasn't using anything, I got such a hormonal imbalance, that I was bleeding to death, developing tons of fibroids that the doctors blamed for the bleeding. So I had a uterine artery embolization to stop all blood flow to the fibroids that was supposed to shrink them and stop my bleeding. I figured okay this is it- no more bleeding. WRONG. My ovaries were affected because of this cute little procedure and they found that it actually was NOT the fibroids causing my bleeding, but my unbalance hormones!!! So having that procedure helped throw me into sudden menopause and hot flashes (never had a hot flash in my life before that damned UAE) and I was STILL bleeding to death! All guessing games. I throw my hands up into the air. I have no idea what to do at this point. > > > > > > . The E creams and OO I've > > > used seem to have NO effect on me whatsoever. Guest guest
Val - I had great results using 8 mgs a day of E. My numbers FINALLY went up! But my doc has put the fear of God into me about using too much E. Another thing that occurs to me is that maybe those preservatives that were causing our dermatitis and other allergic reactions, also made the E work better. > > , it is obvious you are not absorbing your E. Guest guest
So Val, you only use Estrogel and prometrium? Guest guest
Oh - I hated the OO. It's so inconvenient to carry around and it can become a mess. I don't know. I guess I could give it a shot. I'm now waiting for a new load of E in the natural base from my new pharmacy. I'm using Estrogel now and applying it in little dabs all day long! I'm not even measuring. When I feel a hot flash, I take out the tube and apply a little bit on my wrist. > > > In a message dated 1/26/2006 6:10:14 AM Pacific Standard Time, > ctlaurag@y... writes: > > Take note: I did > NOT have hot flashes using that Wiley base cream.
