Guest guest
Hi All, Have not posted in some time but have an experience that I hope will be of some value. I have been using transdermal BHRT for several years now and have always had a problem trying to find a balance. There are times when it seemed as if the hormone where actually stuck in my system. Well low and behold I have just discovered that there are 2 standard bases for HRT cream. One is a very thick white creamy emollient base and the other is what is known as a Vanpen base. Keep in mind that both are standard fillers for compounders the Vanpen being the more popular. After all of this time we have discovered that the oil in the Vanpen base is not allowing my body to properly metabolize the hormones. My compounder 90% of the time would use the emollient base for me on the estrogen. During December he used the Vanpen base (without me knowing) and within a few days I was having hives, scratching, upper respitory problems and major low E symptoms such as night sweats and waking up every 2 hours and complete brain fog. Once the syringes were switched to the emollient base the symptoms stopped. From what I understand the Vanpen has a type of oil in it that may prevent the hormone from being used systemically therefore creating the symtoms of low E while at the same time overloading the area of application. I hope that this is of some value amd please if you are having difficulty check your base. G
Guest guest
, is there a reason you didn't use just pure olive oil as a base? Guest guest
I had always used the transdermal creams even before WP. Never new about Olive Oil as a base until recently. I am assuming most of the time my pharmacist was using the emoillient base for the E so I never really had a problem until this mix up. How are you doing on the OO E ????? Guest guest
Hi - was wondering how you were doing. It seems that the BASE we use is VERY important, doesn't it? But what is the name of the very emollient base so I can always ask for it. I switched pharmacies and lo and behold, my dermatitis came back. I don't know what's up anyway. Creams don't seem to do the job for me. I can't get my E levels up for anything. My thyroid seems okay. I'm still dying from hot flashes! Now I'm using Estrogel but still getting flashes. If I use too much E, I start bleeding and get cramps. I'm ready to give up. > > Hi All, > Have not posted in some time but have an experience that I hope will > be of some value.
