Guest guest
i was diagnosed in August 2010. It has been very difficult for me to deal with this disease although I am glad to see there is a lot more information on the net these days about Still's disease. I have been taking prednisone all this time and have been not taking it for two weeks. The doctor prescribed me to the anti-malarial medication palqueril. I do not feel any relief from this whatso ever. The inflammation and pain after stopping the prednisone has diminished a little bit, however my limbs are still week and I am always tired as well as sickly feeling. I am told to eliminate wheat and diary from my diet and this will cause a tremendous improvement. Is this true? I have even tried herbs and acupuncture without much relief. on top of this my rhuematologist refused to prescribe appropriate medication for pain. Tylenol 3 barely helped. I need help getting insurance i was denied medicare because I am on unemployment and every night the amount of pain if hard to handle, I can barely get any rest. Will changing my diet improve my condition and give me back the strength and energy that I need as well as help with inflammation?
Guest guest
Pamela, I hope that the change in diet is helpful to you. I have not heard of that diet helping Still's before. Rest and keep as stress free as possible. I do know that tapering off of Prednisone must be VERY slowly. If you have pain that is not being addressed properly by your Rheum, then you should see a pain clinic since it is their expertise. Medicare/SSDI/Unemployment can run together and it is all up to your doc. It all must be written up appropriately by your doc showing your disability status. The length of time that you have been disabled is also important. Your doc may not be very aware of all of the many meds that are available for Stills. It is sad the amount of Rheum docs who know nothing about Stills or SOJIA. Where are you located? Do you have a good rapport with your Rheum? B.
