Guest guest
Another way to get Natural Vitamin D is sit in the sun for 10-15 minutes per day. That is the most natural form I know of. Also, there is a blood test that test our Calcium content. You did give correct information on having to take Calcium and Vitamin D together, as our bodies cannot absorb it otherwise. Thanks for reminding us of this. K Vit D and my latest bone scan - and Something that can make a difference for everyone!!! Hi all, I just had my latest bone scan.. Great news. it hasn't gotten any worse!! For years, every time I had a bone scan, it got worse each time I had it. So I was prepared for it to be worse. I have Osteopenia, close to Osteoperosis and expected it to be worse and was pleasantly surprised! My Vanderbilt Rheumy, who did my bone scan a year and a half ago, decided that instead of having me take 50,000 units of Vit D weekly, thought it would be better for me to take 5,000 units of Vit D daily after he saw my Bone Scan. He explained that since there is no way to test for Calcium in our blood work, they test for Vit D. When Vit D is low, it shows that our bones are taking the Vit D out of our blood and using it to make calcium. He also explained that our bodies have a very hard time converting Calcium that we take in pill format into calcium for our bones unless it has Vit D. He said that the best way to support our bodies is to get natural Vit D and Calcium that we would get from Milk, Cheese, Yogurt and other products that have Vit D and Calcium (veggies, nuts - like walnuts, etc - you can look these all up online). He also said that he has found that taking one pill a week doesn't support the body daily. So he told me to go out, get a good quality Vit D that is 5000 Units and take one a day. He also stated that you can't get too much Vit D. That if your body doesn't need it, that your body will just get rid of it. (You can and should check with your own doctors). Anyway, I did so, took it daily since the last bone scan and my scan didn't change from the last one. Yippee!!!! I was AMAZED. I wanted to share this information with all of you, because as we get older, it is really important that we find ways (and this one is a natural way - not a medical pill) to make sure we keep our bones as strong as possible.
