Guest guest
CONGRATULATIONS!! to you and your SO...a.k.a " fiance " . All the best to you and he in your new venture in life. Thank you for the positive post. With hugs- Sandie and Des Moines, IA -- THE Ring OT Good Morning All... Just wanted to share a bit of good news. My SO & I are now officially engaged. (hey! now I can say 'my fiance' instead of 'my SO' LOL) He popped the question last night during dinner at a restaurant that was the setting of our first date, 12 years ago. I know... we've done things out of order here (already been living together for over 10 years & condo owners for almost 2 years) but it's nice to have a sparkly ring anyway! Love to flutter my fingers so I can see the sparkle. And THE ring has a story... 2 of the diamonds are family diamonds. One was from my great grandfather who married my great grandmother and the same diamond was used for my father & mother. The other diamond was from my grandfather & grandmother's ring. (all on my dad's side) My mom had these two diamonds (+ a blue sapphire that was used at my grandmother's 2nd marriage after the passing of her 1st husband - but that stone wasn't used for my ring b/c it turned out to be synthetic.) and made it into one ring. My SO asked my mother the big question (can he have the ring to give to me) awhile ago (Thanksgiving 2004) before the Lewy ride. It's kind of funny, mom had her dementia then too b/c when he asked her (secretly) she came out of her bedroom with the ring in it's box placed on top of a book - she wasn't able to hide it well. And my SO took the ring to the jewelers and used the two diamonds, added 3 more diamonds and had a ring made in platinum (instead of the gold that it was) It's GORGEOUS! Simple, classic, sparkly, and MINE! LOL Here's a Naranja! moment for you. When we went into the restaurant the first thing I saw was a single purple orchard in a flower pot on a little stand. It was placed between two tables - we didn't sit at either of them - but from my seat I was staring straight at it for the entire time. Orchards were one of mom's favorites. And at her funeral we had 3 single orchards (w/in their own pots) displayed to represent her 3 kids near pictures of mom. I feel that that was a little sign from my mom! That she was THERE giving us her blessing!
