Guest guest
My daughter is on Prednisone, Kineret & Cyclosporine for her primary condition...All have worked well together to help her. Enbrel did not help much...She used it many years ago. Take good care.... Re: Enbrel vs. any other biologic Has anyone out there had Enbrel stop working for them? If so what biologic worked for you after Enbrel? I was on Enbrel for six years and it put me in remission for all that time but did finallty stop working last fall. I've been taking Humira now for six weeks and it does seem to be working. Not perfect but most of my morning pain and stiffness is gone. Aleeta -- mareed561@... Guest guest
S. aw a cure for us all now that would be nice and then the next step would be to clone any parts any of us have lost because of it also. Hey if your going to wish wish big I say. Now about what your noticing with embrel. I do hope you have been talking to your RA doc about it and if not If I was in your shoes I think I would be as maybe as has been with other it may not be working as it used to and the time has come to change things up a bit. I dread the day that MTX stops working for me as one its cheap and two its cheap LOL I know I was approved for Embrel years ago but that was at the time of my divorce and when y ex stopped or I should say removed me from her health insurance way before it even went to court so with out any medical coverage I did not get the chance to try it . My doc I have now wanted me to try Keneckt (spelling) but we could not find away to afford it also as my out of pocket cost was more then my SSDI monthly check but as long as MTX seams to be doing the trick that were I am at but ya if things are not working like they used to as I said it may be time to mix it up a bit but any way no mater what wishing you the best Hugs The Redneck Marty G Subject: Re: Re: Enbrel vs. any other biologic I have been on enbrel 50 mg for ~8 years and am noting more flares recently..i am having troubles with pneumonia, shingles..ouch...and corneal ulcers ...not knowing if I can handle much more....don't know whether to blame it on the stills disease or the meds...hoping for a cure for us all... Guest guest
Remaining on the same topic; I had been on Actemra for 15 months following failures on Humira and Kineret. For almost one year I had near complete relief of the sudden attacks of painful episodes and almost normalization of my ability to perform basic activities. It was as if my life had stabilized and I could expect one reasonable day after another without that sudden back to the beginning flare-up. About the 14th month the Actemra stopped working and every symptom came back even shaking chills; all in the absence of any changes in my lab work. After the 15th infusion and another month with essentially no change, my rheumatologist suggested dropping the Actemra and adding Rituxan; otherwise I take Celebrex one to two per day. My Rheumatologist explained that in his experience with patients with abnormal immune systems after a period of time a biologic medication will lose its effectiveness. He further explained it is possible that our immune systems can rebalance back to their abnormal state by counter-acting the very biologic mechanism that allows the medication to exert its effects. I received my first infusion of Rituxan two weeks ago. During the infusion the possible allergic the effects of the Rituxan are balanced by Benadryl and steroid infusions. Besides some itching and tightening in my throat the infusion though lengthy was uneventful. It takes about two weeks for the Rituxan to reduce your B-cell lymphocytes and begin exerting some benefit. I have been very careful to avoid exposures to possible sources of viral or bacterial illness but other than that I have been trying to lead life as usual. So far I have felt better than the last two months of Actemra and I continue to hope for additional gains in my health and activity level. I receive another infusion this coming Tuesday and the next infusion is 4 to 6 months later. I will provide more information as time progresses. Thanks, Harry S.
