Guest guest
Thank you sweet Sharon. I just meant because it was for caregivers of parents. But, I know I belong here even if my patient happens to be my husband. I liked your comments about UTI's, and about selling a house. You know that I was a Realtor for about ten years, before I hung it up. The first thing to selling a house is to have street appeal. Put some fresh make over (or makeup) on it. Paint goes a long way. A sparking clean fresh painted front door, with flowers or plants around it makes a very good first impression. They are already framing their minds to like the house. Clean, clean, sparkling clean windows, walls, and floors. Trim the yard nicely, paint the mail box if there is one. Cull closets to make it appear larger. Put things in storage. Put all those little cluttered things in storage. If there is too much furniture, it will make the house appear smaller. Make sure the house is not priced wrong. The first customer may be your only customer, but they didn't see it when you decided to lower the price. Can you write an adv, that will get the person to look at the house? There are many things to selling a house. Realtors work hard in Real Estate. Guest guest
imogene, i can understand that your daughter in ny wants to help your other daughter with finances because she too loves you, if your daughter refuses yet you stick money into her purse, maybe have ny daughter send you some money to give to other daughter so your limited income wont be spent and boht daughters will feel useful. or let your ny daughter pay for the bars or the security door to keep don from going out and endangering himslef. just a thought hugs, sharon m ---- Iward27663@... wrote: Thank you dear, Donna. I am behind in my mail. We went to see the doctor yesterday. My feet and legs have been swollen a sight. If I do anything my heart starts racing about 120 beats a minute. I don't know what it is all about, but the doctor is taking no chances. She has run a lot of test, including a 12 lead ECG. And, a test for UTI. We'll know in a few days. I may have too much salt. While I was dressed and out, I suggested we do a few errands. We hauled some books and two lamps to the thrift store. We ate Chinese food, went to the bank, and to Penny's. My day started with my beloved telling me how to drive onto to the highway. Then at the Doctor's office we couldn't find a parking spot. My dear opened the car door and asked a police officer, and Don said we are supposed to follow the police car. We did. Out of the parking lot, and a few other parking lots for other stores. I was told how to get out on the road again, urging me to go, when there was a car coming at a fast rate from the other side. When we got back to the doctor's office, My darling got out of the car before it had completely stopped. He whistled real loud for the Police man, and was told where to park behind a parked car. The police said the car belonged to a worker. Well, My man, walked out to the parking space, and starts waving me on. Then pointed his finger at me, and waved me on. There was a four door pickup truck stopped right in front of me. He was trying to get into a different spot. Don could see around the truck but, didn't seem able to see it right in front of him. So, Don motioned more frantically for me to come into that space at least ten or more times. I started getting upset with him. When we saw the doctor after I had calmed down my systolic BP was 169. That was only the beginning of my day. I was directed dozens of times. At times it was down right dangerous. I have had to yell to stop him from getting out of the moving car to direct traffic. That is why I know he will walk out of this house and direct the 50 MPH traffic on the six lane highway by our house. My daughter wants to do more for us, and has offered to come three times a week. Another daughter wants to pay her something for it. The first daughter won't take money, so the second daughter feels hurt because she can't help. She lives in NY. What to do? Anyway the daughter that is coming, will do my shopping and get our medicine. It is a bunch. We take 34 regular pills a day. Not counting when we need pain medicine, or all my lung inhalers. That is over a thousand Pills a month. A lot to keep up with. We have four prescriptions to pick up tomorrow. We have determined we still want burglar bar doors. Not on the windows, except one that is hidden from the street. We want to be able to get out in case of fire, and we want the firemen to be able to break a window to get it in. Since hurricane Katrina the city has had many doors kicked in and the elderly are easy prey. It is so easy to get through the doors that they don't bother to break a window. The burglars are long gone before police ever show up 45 minutes later. If my Don opens the door, the bars will still be in the way. This serves two purposes. Keeping him safe and keeping others out. Some burglar bars for windows actually have locks on them that open the window for an escape. Most people hang the key far enough away so that burglars can't retrieve it off the wall. Perhaps by a picture, so that it can easily be located in the dark. Anyway burglars want easy, fast, places to break in. I slept late today. Made up for all the stress yesterday. My daughter came and did some shopping, vacuumed the floors and dropped off our prescriptions. Somehow I am going to pay something towards all her hard work. I have snuck money into her purse to cover her gas, etc. She fusses about it, saying she wants to do what she does. Guest guest
Imogene, I am a daughter who does a lot for my parents and I totally understand why you daughter does not want money. She loves you and knows you need the help and is happy to do it. She wants to make everything all better and she can't, but doing earrands for you and helping around the house lets her at least ease your burden a bit. My parents used to try and give me money but now they are a bit more sneaky about it. This past fall they bought us 4 beautiful trees and had them delievered from the garden center. Now when I look outside I see these great trees and know my parents bought them and they feel good because they were able to get me something that is really special. These trees will be here long after we are all gone. Maybe you could let your other daughter help with the burgler bars. I am sure she would love to feel like she is helping since she can't actually be there for you in person all the time. Hugs Vallerie
