Guest guest
It's dark in Boston. Today the second largest hospital system in the state became a for profit organization. Caritas was taken over by Cerberus Capital Management, a New York private equity firm. Caritas comprises eight hospitals with more hospitals circling the lip of this black hole. http://www.fiercehealthcare.com/story/caritas-sale-make-largest-profit-switch-ma\ ssachusetts-history/2010-03-25 These guys are really big bean counters. Patients are nothing but little beans to them, doctors are nothing but profit points to them (and if not, well off with their heads). The PR machine started rolling this morning. They bought huge 'underwriting' spots on the local NPR station portraying Cerebus as an angel of mercy. Any IMPs have any dealings with these behemoths? Any thoughts on how this will go down for a tiny pediatric IMP-to-be? Maybe I shouldn't worry, because it will play out the way it will play out??
