Guest guest
Neurontin was developed for seizures . . . most docs prefered the tried and tested drug. So the manufacturer, in an effort to recoup their money and make more, sent their sales reps across the country to tell doctors the wonders of Neurontin - all off label, of course. They actually went into examining rooms with doctors, stepped out and recommended how much Neurontin to prescribe, and told the doctors that, if that didn't work to double and redouble it. If the doctors prescribed enough, they were rewarded with junkets. . . If they really got on the bandwagon and prescribed a lot, they were paid to be speakers to other doctors on these junkets. When I complained to my doctor's nurse about the scene, she told me this wasn't at all unusual! The feds fined the manufacturer's $430,000,000 for the way they marketed the drug. There was an attempt for a class action suit against the mfgs. because so many people either committed suicide, or succeded in committing suicide while on the drug. Neurontin has been prescribed repeatedly to me for a variety of reasons . . . It never was effective. In fact, my feet didn't start burning until after taking it. When I finally figure out what was going on with my feet and found a support group, it was dismaying, everyone was going downhill - unfortunately everyone was taking Neurontin! It was there that I found a doctor who recommended supplementing with Magnesium. Thank God that worked! . . .Most of the people on the support group were so wed to conventional medicine that they ridiculed Dr. Mannsmann who tried to tell them about Magnesium. Neurontin acts to block a particular nerve pathway. It also depeletes the body's magnesium. Hugs, Rogene
