Guest guest
Janie, I've been having cravings for peanut butter and tuna.... that all started when the folks told me that there was a whole salmon in the freezer and that they didn't really like it.. if I wanted the hassle of making it, I could have it... I did, never had salmon like that before.. and it was like I couldn't eat it fast enough.... Weird/hard to explain unless you been in that position.. where some food was just so wonderful you inhale it... A couple of months ago a friend and I were talking.. her husband and a couple friends of theirs get the commodities food, they are disabled.. she said that there were always several things in the boxes that they just didn't like or use and she hated throwing them away.. well, I can use the stuff... so she collected what had been sitting in her cupboards.. some had spoiled but most is still useable. included were cereals, powdered and canned milk, and peanut butter, I started going nuts eating it, no pun intended, the last container of peanut butter I got I polished off in about 24 hours.. I got some corn chex and dipped the little squares in the peanut butter and just wolfed them down.. when the cereal ran out I started dipping my finger in.... I've been craving the tuna for about 2, maybe 3 months.. and I've gone without tuna, or even thinking about it for years... I got some yesterday.. and that was the same deal.. just wolfed it down and then was fine.... On a limited budget... I mean, on my own I can't afford to buy peanut butter, tuna or salmon... how can I increase EFAs? Any ideas/suggestions? I'm guessing that my body has been waking to another deficiency and doesn't quite know how to tell me yet.... Do castor oil or cod liver oil fill the need? They are both nasty.. but fairly inexpensive, I think.. and I'd rather do some of that regularly, to help my body and health, if that is what will do the trick.... Cod liver oil is best IMO but the good stuff is expensive. I like Carlson's lemon flavor, $10 and $20 for small, large bottle. Guest guest
Gracia, Would you happen to know how much is a dose... and how many doses in the small bottle? Just a rough idea... Guest guest
An ND told me to take 1 tsp a.m. and p.m. so that I get 1000mg of EPA and DHA every day (EPA and DHA being the fatty acids). A big bottle lasts maybe 6 weeks in the frig. I always get the big bottle which turns out to be a little cheaper. I think there is a website http://www.carlsoncodliveroil.com ???????
