Guest guest
Are you talking receipts for charges to patients or receipts for stuff you bought for the practice? Either way, I guess, I am trying to do the scan, shred, and back-up on hard drive thing for all paper....the process is hard though as attested to by the piles sitting around. I've been going through medical records from other practices I have received, scanning and shredding. It is amazing how much junk gets sent, especially from practices with EMR's, they print out multiple copies of all kinds of stuff and mail it....what a waste. Good luck. Guest guest
You keep them for as long as you can be audited by the IRS. Ask your accountant. Guest guest
I have the front desk scan all receipts for the day -- checks, CC receipts, etc -- into a digital file and attach it to a face patient in our EMR named Miscellaneous Documentation. That way, if I have to go look something up - I can do that -- but otherwise it gets shredded. Locke, MD
