Guest guest
Hi Stills Family, Well, I wanted to update everyone since Wed Night when I actually got home, but as it turns out. I got home, fell asleep and here is how the next few days went in a Readers Digest Format J. I wanted to get out on Wed. I was feeling so much better. The doc had put me on Florinef and bp was doing good. Problem was… I was still on IV on Wed when I saw the Doc (of course)… Still on Solumedrol… Eating a bit better, getting around better, etc. So She sent me home. Straight from IV, to no IV. With a new drug that I had been on for 2 whole days and changing my Hydro-cortisone by Doubling it (which isn’t much because although it is a steroid it is different than prednisone, a 5 mg pill is equal to less than 1mg of pred).. But Florinef is also a steroid that works differently and I had only had it in my system for 2 days. So I woke up Thursday morning (and by the Way, that is the day that I decided regardless how bad I felt, How high my Temp, I would begin exercising, and I did). Anyway. I had crashed big time. So I called my Docs and they up’d the dose of Hydro-cortisone again a bit. By Friday, The hydro-cortisone dose was probably OK, but the Florinef Dose was probably too much!! I started to have symptoms that they warn you about on the drug. Of course, I called my Docs office and left a message, they didn’t want me to change the med and by 5pm when the docs close, my heart rate which had stabilized at a resting rate of 55-60 was now staying at about 100 when resting. I felt like I was exercising doing nothing. Of course none of my Docs are on call this weekend. Anyway, I called the Doc on call, and he literally said, “I don’t know what to tell you to do, it sounds too complicated for me”, in a very southern accent. Now don’t get me wrong. I don’t mind a southern accent. It was just that he wasn’t willing to help or listen at all. But I asked him to contact my Doctor and ask what She would want me to do and he said “We’ll I’ll See whether I can do that or not” (Now you have to imagine that in the most southern accent you could ever hear – It was on Speaker – My husband had to walk out of the room to not laugh – or start to shout at the guy – or both I think). I never did hear back from him. After talking it out together, we decided to taper down on my Hydro-cortisone and to cut the Florinef into ¼ pieces so I could taper that to a ¾ dose and that seems to have helped. I guess sometimes we just have to use our own best wisdom. I have a bp monitor here so that helps determine what to do. I know the ER wouldn’t do much more. So Onward and Upwards! I do have an apt with my Doc on Monday, So I know I will get the right answer then. Thanks for all your support. Hang in there everyone. Welcome to all the new members of the group.
