Guest guest
We have rallied against his junkscience/quackwatch backed advice ... here's something I posted on him years ago: Ilena Apr 8 1997, 3:00 am Newsgroups: alt.support.breast-implant.moderated Date: 1997/04/08 Subject: Dirty Doctor Dean Edell . . . Dirty Doctor Dean Edell . . . Broadcast the facts or go to H*LL Okay, dear friends, please join us, our fellow Doctor Dean nemesis, of Impart, and the many of us who are working to reach him. So far, he poo-poos our fax-a-thons and rallies and photos and studies and proclaims we send him no evidence. Creative amnesia gone amuck. He must stop the dangerous and cruel dis-information he spews almost daily. He has gone so far as to say that he hopes that implanted women never get a cent! So, please fax the General Managers of his stations, and him at: 415/986-4716 Dirty Doctor Dean 415/362-5827 His Boss, KGO¼s General Manager, Jim Topping & 213/380-8364 Neal, KFIs Genral Manager in Los Angeles, AM 640 Any other stations that carry him, please fax that GM too (and please send me the fax #) Here is a letter sent to the above: Dr. Dean Edell: I¼ve had bilateral mastectomies for cancer, one of which was a Halstad radical, and was advised by my trusted doctor that I would be " whole " again if I had breast implants inserted in my chest. That was in 1979. Well, I¼ve survived the terrible breast cancer but I¼ll never be " whole " again! I have had four extensive chest surgeries since then, and am now very disfigured, and very, very sick from the poisoning I am exposed to every single day from the silicone, polyurethane and other chemical debris throughout my body. I have " lost " my health. I am a retired professor of health education, trained at Columbia University and can read and understand scientific research. There are thousands of published studies in peer reviewed medical journals, indicating a serious health risk here. I can also critically evaluate the tainted truth of recent science for hire . . . can't you? As a medical doctor, who I presume took the Hippocratic Oath, how can you ignore the thousands of sick women and continue to lie about breast implant safety? Even the FDA has not ruled them safe - how can you? You must stop the distortions and be accountable to your listeners and your profession ‚ and help right this terrible wrong! If you would like to hear my sad story of trusting doctors and corporate America, both of which have victimized women for the sake of the all mighty dollar - I'll send it along to you. Guest guest
Great article, " CalibriMama " ! I have no doubt that someday the truth will come out. IT is so blatantly obvious to me, and should be to any doctor that looks at path reports of us (with autoimmune problems) after explant. The giant cells around the implants show an autoimmune response - or so my internist explained to me. SHe was surprised, too, because she had always been told that there is no correlation b/w implants and autoimmune illness. WRONG. Tobacco is probably the best parallel with silicone.. Although my dad died of mesothelioma, and after researching asbestos I became livid with the years of cover-up. THe first lawsuits against asbestos manufacturers were in the late 1920s!! Yet it was not until the 70s that it became public as a health hazard. Sadly, with implants, we also have the additional factor of gender bias and it is more easy to blame the victim.
