Guest guest
Hi , I'm glad you finally spoke up! . . . and that you've been getting some good info here. When you go home from surgery, you will be well wrapped. When the wraps come off, wear a snug, but comfortable, sports bra 24/7 until healing is well underway. This will help make the internal scar tissue work for you! You'll be doing some fluffing in the months following your explant. s\S before deciding on what kind of bras to get, why not wait and see what you need? Most women are pleasantly surprised! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
- HI. I am glad to hear that you already have your explant scheduled. I wanted to comment on not getting a lift. If your breasts are saggy now, I think there is a good liklihood they will be saggy after explant. Many many women have gotten lifts and been very pleased with the results. So much so that they realized that a lift was probably all they needed in the first place. What did your doctor recommend? I would really look into your options before deciding against one. I know they are more expensive, but very worth it. Besides, if you don't like the way your breasts look after explant, you are looking at another surgery downthe road. It is less expensive and less risky to have just one surgery instead of two. Please at least explore the types of lifts and get more info before deciding against it. I had implants for eleven years and my skin had stretched enough in that time so that where my natural breast ended there is now saggy skin. I didn't get a lift or anything and will now need to go back someday and get something done. There are different types of lifts but I would at least get all the info and opinions from ps before making a final decision. Good luck in whatever you decide. Guest guest
I think it really depends on the doctor doing the explant, some will leave you saggy, others will take more pains to see that you are not. Guest guest
Dearest : Welcome to our group. Honey, please ask questions and these ladies will help you get through this. I'm glad that you have some time to prepare for your explant. Dr. Blais will help you with information on making sure that your implants and capsules are kept. The implants and capsules must go to pathology first, then it is always best to have everything that the doctor has removed to be sent directly from the hospital to Dr. Blais. This way they cannot claim that you tampered with the material. When I was explanted the doctor taped my breasts, it was like a binding. Perhaps some of the other ladies will help you with some suggestions regarding the type of bra that you should wear. , please just take one day at a time and if you need to talk to someone just call me. Love always....Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`` First time posting > Hi, > I'd like to say thank you for all the wonderful info this site has > provided for me. Guest guest
I was ex[lanted and sent home wraped in a big ace bandage, then I transitioned to sports bras ,then to regular bra's. The regular bras still hurt on my incision lines and rub the place on my back where there is nerve damage and it sort of feels like bees stinging me. The PS says that it will heal in time. I was also told that I would have no breast tissue left after but am at least a large b or c. I have not yet bought bra's that fit. I have been so busy living my very busy life. Mine are like apples in socks right now, and they are so heavy and uncomfortable.... I can't wait to be free from them. Please tell me more about this strange stinging on you back, was this happening before or after your explantation. ______________________________________________ >

Guest guest
Hi Amy.      Welcome to our wonderful group. It must be very hard to work so many days and then try to do so with RA and stiffness.     I am glad you have your Rheumy appt. very soon. I hope the Dr. can help you with some meds., and also answer the many questions you must have. The sooner they start to treat it aggressively, the better it will be for you.     I have stiffness in my ankles and feet each day. It does take some time for them to be better.     Good luck at your Rheumy appt.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Amy H <lauralynnil40@...> Subject: [ ] First time posting Date: Sunday, September 19, 2010, 9:46 AM  I read almost everything on here but have never posted before. Guest guest
Amy - I am like you, nothing shows up in my blood work. I am lucky that I didn't start having symptoms until age 60. If I understand right, 20% of people with RA are not RA positive. I still haven't gotten a diagnosis and this has been going on for a year. I have a strong family history of auto immune diseases in my family and my symptoms are very much like my cousins. I think I have a lighter case of RA, but could not imagine having what some individuals have on the group. I am like you, I get up early and take a hot shower to get going in the mornings. Right now, I take Celebrex and Cymbalta with tramadol and Darvocet for pain. I try to stay away from the pain meds. I also take Ambien and got addicted to it - but I worked myself off of it. Ambien would let me sleep even with the pain, whereas the pain meds did not help me sleep. Guest guest
Hi Amy - I am 41 and was diagnosed with RA just about a year ago now after a year of not having an actual diagnosis. I was finally diagnosed last year with a positive anti-CCP. It is not uncommon to have a diagnosis of seronegative RA, which is probably what will happen when you see your rheumatologist. I know how you feel with that stiffness in the morning. I certainly can't jump out of bed like I used to!!! Good luck with your appointment, and I hope that you get some relief soon!! Guest guest
Hi Amy and Welcome. I mostly read too. I am going through the same thing, nothing in the blood but noticable swelling in fingers and lots of joint pain in knees, hips, hands and feet. Some days I could cry because its not just the joints it seems like some times its muscles and ligaments too. I went on a trial of prednisone which worked but because I have osteoporosis, I made it clear I didn't want long term. I tried Mobic which did nothing. Cellebrex works if it weren't for my stomach. I am now for three months on Plaquenil. I think it may be working minimally. Just found out I am pregnant and funny since then, my hands are really alot more painful. I wonder if the pregnancy is doing something to my immune system. Good luck. > > I read almost everything on here but have never posted before. Guest guest
Hi Amy, It is such a funny path we have with RA. Looking back, I think I've had RA for quite a while with stiffness and swelling. There were periods that I just ached and didn't know why. I finally got a preliminary diagnosis from my GP after I had a tick bite. I thought that might have been a problem. The GP ran a series of tests including the C-reactive protein. My results were extremely high. Not good. Any my rhemoid factor was positive. She sent me to a Rhemy. When I saw the first one, she was more interested in flirting with her new PA, she didn't listen, or even look at me. She told me I just had Osteoarthritis and to work through it. After dropping her, I went to another Rhemy. He didn't believe in RA (huh?) and told me that my pain was because I am fat and took in too much Aspartame. I told him I didn't use Aspartame, but he didn't listen. I finally found my new rhemey and just love him. He and his partner go over their cases at the end of the day together so you get a second opinion. He actually listens and has you complete a questionaire at least once a year to see how you are doing. I've been able to work and although I haven't gone into remission at this point, I can still function most of the time. Good luck and remember that you are in charge and the Doc works for you. Before your visit, make a list of what is going on and what your issues are, how often they occur and what you can and can't do. Also make a list of all your questions. During your visit, take notes and/or bring someone with you. This can be a very emotional visit and it's hard to take it all in and remember everything. Don't be afraid to ask questions. A good doc will welcome them. Good luck and I hope you are able to get the best doc possible! Meg in MO > > I read almost everything on here but have never posted before.
