Guest guest
Jeanne, Basically, Neurontin was developed for seizures . . . like epileptic seizures. However, the patients preferred the time proven medications already available. Stuck with huge development costs, the manfuacturer decided to send salesmen out to doctors offices across the country - actually going in the examining room if possible - telling the doctors how much to prescribe for virtually everything. They told the doctors if the normal amount didn't work to double and redouble the dose . . . that it didn't have any side effects. If the doctors prescribed enough, they got paid junkets. If they really got on the bandwagon and prescribed a lot, they got paid to be speakers to other doctors on these junkets. (When I told my doctor's nurse that I didn't want to take it because of this, she told me that this kind of marketing isn't at all unusual). The feds have fined the manufacturer's $430,000,000 for their marketing practices. There is at least one class action suit going on. . . . Toxic Discovery has a link for it. I heard one class action suit was for patients who had attempted suicide, or families of those who had committed suicide. During the period when they were prescribing it freely, it was recommended to me on at least four different occasions for four different reasons. Bottom line for me . . . it depleted the mangesium in my body, resulting in Erythromelalgia - burning feet. When I found a support group for it, it was horrifying. Everyone seemed to be spiraling downward. .. . Guess what? the drug of choice is Neurontin! A medical doctor came into the group. He had been completely disabled by the disease for two years. With his medical background, he did the investigation to find out that a depletion of Magnesium can cause the problem. Unfortunately most of the people on the group ridiculed him! If you're interested in this doctors work, check http://www.magnesiumresearchlab.com/ (His webpage looks unprofessional, but don't let that put you off!) Guest guest
HI MELYNDA JUST TO LET U KNOW NEUROTIN IS ALSO USED AS A PAIN RELEIVER, SO TO SPEAK, THEY HAVE FOUND THAT IT BLOCKS PAIN IN PATIENTS WITH OTHER THINGS INVOLVING PAIN OTHER THAN JUST NERVE CONDITIONS, I ALSO ? IT WHEN THEY TRIED ME ON IT SEVERAL YRS AGO AS I AM A MED TECH AND WAS ONLY FAMILIAR IN GIVING IT TO MY PATIENTS I HAD WITH SEIZURES. THIS IS WHEN I WAS TOLD THEY ARE FINDING SOME HAVE LUCK WITH PAIN CONTROL, I DIDN'T AND DID NOT LIKE HOW IT MADE ME FEEL, STOPPED IT AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS. I ALSO NO WITH NO INSURANCE IT IS HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, LIKE HUNDREDS. HOPE I WAS ABLE TO HELP WITH CONCERNS OF THIS MED. IT IS SUCCESFULL IN ALOT OF PATIENTS WITH PAIN I GUESS, BUT I FELT LIKE I WAS IN LIMBO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN HERE AND THERE, I GUESS I CAN SAY IT WASN'T ALL TAKEN WITHOUT SOME RELIEF AT TIMES BUT JUST COULD NOT GET USE TO SIDE EFFECTS crktrendle54 <crktrendle54@...> wrote: Okay....
