Guest guest
Sending my regards to Tori, I just went through the same painful experience in December. I didn't think that Jim would make it. He was in intensive care and extremely serious. I spent the night in his hospital room for two nights to see him through the first few days. I am sure most of you recall my heart break. When he was released from the hospital, he got pneumonia. December and January was a rocky road for Jim and me. Jim also qualified for Hospice care. Today, Jim is looking wonderful. He is gaining his weight back again and seems to have his spark back. He did drop a peg or two down, because now I can not get him in the car to take him for rides and out to eat, as I did the months before Jim went into the hospital, but I have been working with him and doing exercises with his legs to get him back to weight bearing and standing with assistance, he just can't lift his leg to get into the car anymore. He has come a long way from what he was the last two months. Thank you for all your prayers, they do work and I just want to say that we never know from day to day where our Loved Ones are headed, no two LBDers are exactly alike in the patterns that they follow, but never give up hope. I don't want to give anyone false hope, but the possibilities that things can turn around do happen. I am amazed at Jim's resilience! My prayers and thoughts are with Dizz at this time for recovery as my husband has had. Jim's doctor too was careless, because in October, Jim had a UTI and the doctor gave him oral anitbiotics at the nh that lasted only a week. When the doctor gave Jim a urine test to see if the UTI was gone after the antibiotics were finished, it was right after and the antibiotics were still in Jim's system, so it gave a false reading. The UTI had a chance to come back even stronger than in October and this time very serious. I also was livid at the doctor and let him know. Jan Cowie wrote: Hello All, Bad news from Tori... To make a long, painful story short Dizz is in hospital. " The reason he was being admitted was because his UTI was extremely serious, dangerously serious. This was the first we heard this news. I let the nurse know that I was not happy and he said he couldn’t blame me for that.. I hate to bother you with this but could you please share this info with the group? We could really use some prayers and positive thoughts. Dizz is wasting away before my eyes and it’s breaking my heart. With the careless doctors and lack of communication we received I am livid. I’m going to speak to the top person in charge of this hospital and give them an earful. I want written apologies and promises that this will NOT happen again…to anyone! Guest guest
Jon and I get it too; Cal was hospitalized with a UTI in January - he was so off his gourd from it that he got a ride to the hospital in restraints. 45 hours later, he was back to his happy adorable self. 3 hours after we got him home, he was off his gourd again, denying that he was Cal, that Jon was his son, and that he'd ever taken a pill in his life. Back to the hospital for more IV antibiotics and a few days in geropsych after that. He's bounced back, and coupled with the new drug regimen, he's better than he's been in at least 18 months, if not more. Jon and I are shocked every day as to what's possible.
