Guest guest
Hi all, First welcome all of you who have joined ASPIRES recently. Pleased to have you. I’ve been privileged to belong for almost the beginning of the List. Feel free like all of us to contribute, to ask questions, and for that matter to get in on the business of answering others’ queries. We don’t know any of the answers, but we pretend to do so with mixed results. Sure are some interesting discussions in the process. I’m a 74 year old Aspie living in Australia, been married three times, with two grown children. In these my latter years, I am classified as a professional Actor and Platform presenter. I was diagnosed AS during my mid/late 60s. Now live with two beautiful cats in Regional . For the rest of you, to bring you up to date. My long projected book is now in the hands of the publishers (in UK). It is titled Confessions of an Unashamed Asperger – taking the form of Essays based on my reminiscences and speculations as I’ve presented them in my lectures, and tossed them round in this forum. According to schedule, it will appear as an ebook in something like a month and a half, - with the paperback appearing in some 6 months time. I was privileged to get a Foreword provided by Professor Tony Attwood, who I’ve known for several years. If anyone is interested in seeing the table of contents, I’ll send it to them. Re my health, with the operation on the spinal cord now 8 months in the past, I’m walking on my feet reasonably successfully but with wobbly awkwardness all the time. It could take a couple of years for the pins and needles to clear up, not to mention the other peculiar residual symptoms. And finally, re my beloved cats. I’ve had Tamino now for about 9 weeks. For short and as the in-house name, I call him Bruno. (he is a desexed/-microchipped chocolate Tonkinese, with a lovely nature and magnificent appearance as well as beautiful blue eyes). He is well settled in and is just starting to make direct friends with the resident pussy, my longterm lilac Burmese girlfriend Kittles (Felecia if you want to be formal). They have never had any sort of fight, and got over the major spitting and swearing after about the first 4 weeks. They have now had a few games of chasey, and are content to sprawl out in the sun within a foot or so of each other. And last night for the first time, they were together sleeping on my bed in close proximity. Anyway that will do for the moment. Cheers, Ron. PS. If you can write a book, Helen, f’reavens sake, go ahead and do it. If I can, then anyone can. By the way. Good comments, Helen!
