1st off there is no way of proving any one has stills as stills is dx by what it

is not and only that as there is no test for stills. This is why it is so hard

to DX stills compaired to other illness.

Second I know very well about second and third auto immune disorders as I my

self have that very same deal and one is life threatening!

 

As for wanting to be a mom well stills should not stop you if that is what you

want as some here can attest to it being a very good possibility given time and

some adjustments and your willingness to live with out some meds.

 

as for some thing happening that would scare the kids well lets face it there is

no guarantee that it will never happen or that you will not prove that one

person right. It’s just a fact of life with stills and auto immune illnesses.

Yes some get away with one flair but they are the very lucky ones as many others

never get any remission or let up of problems like our friend Kirk. Take

She has had stills for many years and has done good and enjoyed some remissions

in life but that dose not mean she was always trouble free.

 See with stills it’s like any major disorder or any major life changer. You

go

threw steps with it like confusion, denial, anger, and so on. When a person has

gone threw all the steps that is when they finally start to learn to live with

stills or what ever they suffer with or from. This is also why concealing is so

important for the person with it and all there loved ones they live with. It is

a major life changer that you can only deni it so long. It changes what we

wanted out of life and how we look at life. Things we planed and dreamed of

before becoming ill are one thing and after what we understand we can really do

start to become another thing like it or not that is a fact of life. This is

also why many end in divorce because one or the other can not handle the changes

or adjustments that are needed.  Statistics say when a child or one spouse

becomes ill 80% of those marriages end up in divorce. I believe that as I am one

of many that are a victim of that statistic.  My life change was getting

stills

and not being able to bring home the bacon any more at the age when I would have

been making top dollar in my life. It was a problem because she loved bacon more

then me I found out.

 

So just like meds it takes time and the willingness to give it the time it

needs. Some times some need more time then others just as some need deferent

meds then others. like me with a fatty liver and yet I do well on MTXwith no

problems at all and its been this way for almost 6 years now out of the ten with

stills. Yet with the newer drugs like remacaid when it first came out that

almost killed me. Yet others found great benefits from it. But had I stayed with

it well I would not be writing this. Yet even with some problems I gave it two

extra months to sort it all out was it the meds or my body fighting it because

of it trying to make me feel better. Now days I use only old school meds and

they work for me and it’s a good thing because I can not afford the new stuff

even with my insurance.

 

So just to let you know your still a baby in the woods of the stills dragon and

you have a long walk ahead of you with many pit falls along the way. You do not

walk alone as many are walking with you as new babies and old timers lending a

hand. You will not avoid all the pit falls but down the line you will learn to

start seeing them and work with them and that is when you will start the new

chapter of learning to live with stills or what every you may suffer from.

 It’s not easy and I still learn how to live with Stills almost every day.

Some

days I do better then others and some days the dragon wins, but in the end I go

on in life just changed and adjusted more for now then what was planed and

dreamed of many years ago. But for me life can still be good and worth it all

and some days I even feel alive and free!
