Guest guest
I saw this message a long time ago. Supposedly it has been banned for quite sometime. Best to check labels anyway to make sure. I have not checked lately because I do not use these products. Warm hugs, Joyce This actually doesn't surprise me. When my older son was 14 months old, he got a bad cold with stuffy ears and the doctor put him on Dimetapp (this was when it was still a prescription drug) and for the first 2 days all was fine. Then on the third night, I put him to bed as usual and he woke up at 10:00. He was like a little wild man -- wide awake and going ninety to nothing. And he stayed that way until 6:00 the next morning when he finally collapsed. I decided it had to be the Dimetapp. A few years later I tried another children's cold remedy and we had the same reaction. When I compared the ingredients of it against Dimetapp, phenylpropanolamine was the common ingredient. He also can't take Benadryl. He's 25 now and stil reacts to these medications. Once he took Benadryl deliberately when he had to stay awake to finish up a studio project. I'm going to tell him about this and not to do that any more.Benadryl affects me differently -- it makes me real sleepy but I'll have strange dreams, almost like hallucinations. Needless to say I haven't had any Benadryl in over 30 years. Happy holidays to everyone!Marilyn
