Guest guest
Re; Politics and newsgroups Marta, I agree with you heartily. I was a moderator on the Association for Online Cancer Research sponsored lupus listserv. Our rules about politics and religion and other emotional issues were very strict. I wish the rules had been more flexible because once in a while a political issue was indistinguishable from medical concerns that affected all patients in the United States. I know there is no particular detailed way in which we can be assured that our efforts are helping....point is that we have created some " stir " ....Washington D.C. is like a huge small town....word always gets around and I'm sure people will be talking about the latest uproar that Lyme patients have created with all of their e-mails and letters. Even the fact that they have to bother to delete overwhelming numbers of messages titled " Burrascano " or " Lyme " says something to everyone there and they talk amongst themselves so ....it will help. Cheryl RE: Spinal Tap While being screened for M.S. ten years ago I had a spinal tap. I had every known complication and leaked like a sieve and had to have a blood patch and was in physical therapy for 7 months after trying to get the inflammation and swelling down at the site of puncture. Three years ago I had " idiopathic increased intracranial pressure " the diagnostic first choice was a spinal tap. I said to my neurologist as I put my hand on his arm gently " Look, I know you are really thorough but....remember the spinal tap from hell? " He looked back in his own records and was " sore afraid " . I asked him if there was any possible way to give an accurate asessment without the tap, naturally, there almost always is.... and he said, " Okay, we'll send you to get some visual field tests...if you're pressure is dangerous your visual fields will be decreased. " Quite a harmless test ....and it was a real substitute. Last week the subject was brought up again as I am being evaluated for cerebral degeneration thought to have come about through untreated Lyme and my doc said, " You know, this is a risky test and the percentages of supportive findings are very, very, small as stated in the Lyme literature so I'm not putting you through the misery. " Over ten years he has become much more conservative with spinal taps. Always question the doctors about alternatives.....always. with much support to all of us, Cheryl (snip) You know when Lyme-aid was first >founded, I did not want it to be involved in political issues on Lyme >disease, there are plenty of other forums for that, I wanted to offer >support, and information, and exchange between people about this disease, a >quiet, peaceful area on the net....well, I sure have to bend this rule now. >If we don't save Dr B. we are all in big trouble, (snip)
Guest guest
, That's great! Sounds like we have both coasts covered for CFS hydrotherapy....I wonder what the ocean temp in San Francisco is in comparison to Maine? My biggest hurdle is being strong enough to drive to the ocean.....sometimes the benefit of the hydrotherapy are outweighed by the twenty minute drive each way..... >Message: 16 > Date: Sat, 05 Jan 1980 18:18:45 -0800 > From: Hess <pchess@...> >Subject: Re: ocean water > >E- >Your the first person I know who does what I do! Now can someone shock me into waking up before 12 hrs of sleep? Going through some kind of flare - more sleep, fewer OK hours, and sharp joint pain. Taking 200 neurontin, flagyl, bicillin, traz, prozac, klonopin, dyazide (edema and highBP), amour thyroid, guai, antihistimes, plaquanil, multi-vit - no iron, and am ready to go on prednisone, because I've had it. Guest guest
Ken you sound like you know more about what you are doing than I but if you are taking abxs and drinking juices you may be at risk of yeast -- you could just do a little nystatin once or twice a day good luck and thank for producing the very informative pages on the web. Guest guest
Bill asked about the relationship between losing 25 pounds and the dental appliance for sleep apnea. In many cases of sleep apnea, it is aggravated by being overweight...as I was. You find this in average size folks as well as LPs. The Dental Appliance is not as effective at relieving symptoms of apnea as the CPAP device in many people, and by losing the weight, it can only help the appliance to work better...to say nothing of overall health. Hope this helps... Kate

Guest guest
Yoghurt is definitely worth trying but it all depends upon the individual on whether it works. Its good bacteria vs lactose so there's a good side and a bad side. The problem with taking just a tablet is that you need to make sure that you are taking a good one - sometimes the 'live' bacteria isn't very alive! In general the bacteria in so called live yoghurt tends to be more live than in the tablets. Pete. PS Check the archives over the last two weeks for more stuff on yoghurt (entitled 'Yoghurt' I think). > > From: marciejohnston@w... > > > >Some books say NO dairy at all, even yogurt, but other sources say > >yogurt, especially sugar-free, is one of the best things you can eat if > >you have candida. > > > >So- how does everyone feel about yogurt? > > I find it works if I take it (the acidophillus one) at the same time as antibiotics. Guest guest
Michele, I can relate to the new job thing. I am at mine now close to 3 months so I am now acclimated and need to get back on track. I have also started exercising again, although slowly!! Now that we KNOW what we have to do, we will do it, right? Liz,, You must be a skinny miny with all of that breathing!!! I will be doing lots of bbb..I drive 45 minutes to and from work. trying to do the ll too. And I started my body blade again and knee exercises. I try to do the ll breathes when I do them. I had a problem with my knee and went to a pt..he gave me exercises which helped a lot. I ended up stopping them and of course, the inevitable happened..it started hurting again. So back to those daily too. why to we do this to ourselves..I am at my all time worst weight and have been struggling for about 3 years..(Karma, you know that from other boards..).. so hopefully this time I will do something positive and that will work. I saw Greer on HSN..boy does she look great, as does Rashelle. Hard to believe that just breathing can do that. I was upset that I lost so slowly but had I stuck to it, those 1/4 and 1/8 " would have piled up and I would not be where I want to be. So for any of you that are slow loosers...keep that in mind..I'm bigger than before..not smaller!!! Ellen

Guest guest
Dear Bee, I have already started an antibiotic because I am so sick. I couldn't eat for the nausea and pain. Do you think I should stop the meds and try the cranberry juice? I wish I did not have to take antibiotics ever again, but I was so desperate. I was actually vomiting Mon. morning, and lost 3 more pounds this week- I'm down to 90 lbs. Thank you for all your advice. Best to you, >Dear , I cured my last bout with urinary tract infection with cranberry juice. Guest guest
Janet, Why do you think you are losing weight. I have same problem. I am down to 109 from 132 last summer. 109 is okay but I didn't lose it on purpose. I look a little ghostly I think. I also threw up twice in two weeks. I'm trying to figure out why. I rarely do that. It may be some new medicine I've been put on. I have stopped it just to see. Barb > > Dear Bee, > > I have already started an antibiotic because I am so sick. Antibiotics will make you vomit - they do increase candida growth and interfere with digestion. Bee
