Guest guest
This is sooo true. When I first became ill, I had no idea that it was the implants. In fact, I didn't really think that I was sick just stressed from work. This went on for more than a year, maybe even two. I NEVER thought that it was my implants. Everyone (dr's.) said that they were perfectly safe. I remember the time that I spent an entire week in bed. I couldn't get out of bed because of severe lower back pain. Within a week it cleared up enough that I was able to go back to work. I was limping for a few weeks after that but I thought that I might have hurt myself lifting something heavy. I spent that entire week in bed exhausted and trying to figure out what I lifted to have caused such pain. I couldn't come up with anything. After that I started noticing that when I was sitting for a long period of time, it was getting progressively harder trying to get up from my chair. I used to joke that I was getting old! Had NO idea that it was the start of the implants working on me. However, if I had spoken to someone that was sick from saline implants and heard about their symptoms, then I would have definitely started thinking that it was the implants. I really blame this on the doctors. They told all of us the same thing. They are safe and will last a lifetime. Weren't we all told this??? The worst that could happen would be a rupture. No mention of bacteria or mold from the rupture getting into your body. At that time, I tended to believe what my doctor told me. After all, they were the ones with all of the education! Hah! What a joke and how stupid I was!!!!!!!!! Beth S.glory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: This is soooo true! Lea, you've addressed an important aspect of this illness. And in fact, we even hear this on this group.I have heard many women say that they are not having any trouble with the implants. But then they will admit that they have had certain health issues, all of which are consistent with implant related illness. It is almost an afterthought, or a tangent to the original conversation, as a "by the way" sort of thought.I am sure it is quite difficult to draw any connection between implants and illness when women are pre-programmed into thinking that implants are safe. That is the only explanation I can give as to why women continue to say that implants aren't causing them any problems, when in fact, they have lots of health problems.Maybe it is true that the implants themselves are not causing problems, as in not ruptured, not leaking, not deflated, not hurting, not shifting, not uncomfortable. But it can be a stark reality that the implants have started a hellish immune system dysfunction that is leading to a nightmare with autoimmune disease, joint pain, fibromyalgia and God knows what other health related problems.I find it very hard to believe that any woman can carry breast implants for 20-25 years or more and not be experiencing some type of health issue that the implants may be exacerbating, if not causing. But then, there are many women that would rather die than to give up their implants. It is a silent epidemic, as you have said, but I hope that we are making progress toward changing this very ugly and sad situation.Hugs,Patty> > Sep 27 2004, 1:46 pm show options > > Newsgroups: alt.support.breast-implant > From: Ilena Rose <i...@s...> - Find messages by this author > Date: Mon, 27 Sep 2004 11:46:16 -0600 > Local: Mon,Sep 27 2004 1:46 pm > Subject: Re: Dolly Parton is having her famous breasts reduced > Reply to Author | Forward | Print | Individual Message | Show > original | Report Abuse > > There were several stories about this last September ... here are > two I had posted.> > http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/802578.cms> > (one above is still online ... one below isn't)> > www.BreastImplantAwareness.org> > > > 27/09/2004 - 09:52:30 > http://breakingnews.iol.ie/entertainment/story.asp?j=1188416 <http://breakingnews.iol.ie/ent & shy;ertainment/story.asp?j=1188416 & shy;> > 86 & p=yy88... > Country legend Dolly Parton is having her famous breasts reduced > after > suffering 30 years of excruciating back pain. > The I Will always Love You singer had silicone implants in both her > twenties and her thirties, but doctors have now told the 58-year-old > star her enormous double-D bust will have to be reduced to relieve > the > crippling pressure on her back and shoulders. > She admits: "My boobs are killing me - and I don't know if I can > stand > the pain any longer. > "My boobs have been a trademark for me - but I've paid one hell of a > priceOpinions expressed are NOT meant to take the place of advice given by licensed health care professionals.
