Guest guest
Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but thanks for the dry eye info. I have dry eyes and am interested in your " cocktail " . I used Restasis many moons ago and it did nothing but sting. > ** > > > I have had cataract surgery and have acrylic replacement IOLs. > Unable to find out exactly what type of acrylic the replacement lenses are > actually made of, but did find out that DMSO does dissolve several types of > acrylics. > > Prior to the cataract surgeries I had been using a mix of 1 ounce CS, 1/2 > tsp MSM and 1.4 ml DMSO as eye drops and would like to use that mix again > but am concerned that it would damage the intraocular acrylic lenses. > Needless to say, I don't want to run the risk of dissolving or damaging my > " new eyes " . > > So I'm asking here is anyone knows if these drops are safe to use, or if a > drop with less DMSO would be safe, or if I should just leave out the DMSO > from the mix and simply go with CS/MSM only? Both reasons I don't want to use it in addition to concerns about the active ingredient being an immune suppressant according to a nurse friend of mine. I used it years ago, and hated it. And it really didn't seem to do much anyway. BTW, the CS-MSM-DMSO really did help me, but don't use it too often or it also will cause more dryness. I found 2-3 times a day to be about right for me. sol

I use it in capsules. If it was a powdered form of MSM, would it be okay to empty capsules? If so, what would be the equivalent? What was the strength of the DMSO? 70%? More? Why 1.4 ml? Why not round it up to 1.5 ml? Sorry for all the questions, but my dry eyes can drive me crazy sometimes. Thanks! Jim
Guest guest
Lugols will clear up dry eyes rather quickly, it encourages much higher production of tears, salavi, thins mucus. However for that to happen, I had to take a hundred mgs daily, which is really good, as I know it is safe to use in this dosage range, I now take 220mgs daily, a great health supplement, fixed almost all of my problems. For what it;s worth department, iodine, lugols is a mix of two iodines, is an excellant antibiotic, and I think the answer to super bugs, that is killing mostly young people in hospitals. I take my iodine with a tablespoon of dmso, as I believe dmso helps it permeate the body more readily, I make and sell iodine, I had a customer yesterday, who has been taking iodine for some six months, he and his wife, he reports, he and his wife no longer require medication for the type II diabetes, great news, david lubbock tx. > ** > > > Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but thanks for the dry eye > info. I would never use MSM from capsules in something like my eye drops because of the inactive ingredients, which in this case would simply be contaminants. I also prefer to use Opti-msm powder which is made in the U.S. from U.S. sourced raw ingredients (i.e. not from China nor from China sourced raw ingredient). > What was the strength of the DMSO? 70%? More? Why 1.4 ml? Why not round > it up to 1.5 ml? > 99%. I developed my mix several years ago and no longer really remember how I arrived at 1.4 ml. but suspect it was trial and error going by both comfort level and what seemed to fix the dryness without producing even more dryness. so how much DMSO to add will probably be individual. I completely understand about the dryness. I had extreme pain from it, severe keratitis and was within what the eye doc said was 24 hours of developing corneal ulcers at one time (years ago) No fun. Not wanting to go there again, since I had bad chapped spots again and was having a lot of eye pain, I am now back on Restasis......which I did not want to do, but felt I simply had to try again. Since I can't find out what for sure what the risk of even going well below 1.4 ml DMSO in an eye drop is, or even if MSM alone in an eye drop is truly safe for my acrylic implants. FML steroid eye drops made the dryness and eye pain worse. Misting with CS didn't help nearly enough, and also seemed to actually be making the dryness worse in the end, and artificial tears even without preservatives also seemed to be making it worse. I felt like I had run out of options to trying Restasis. When my eyes are NOT dry for some periods of time, my vision is perfect now, but I have to say I have been bitten by a host of things I did not consider, or was not told about, nor find out on my own about that are or can be consequences of cataract surgery for at least some people. And I did a ton of research beforehand and thought I knew what to expect............sigh. I have found out that no matter how much research one does it is never enough (about anything, lol). sol
Guest guest
Not an option for me, I'm violently allergic to all forms of iodine, iodide, etc. and have been for 25 years. dAVId wrote: > Lugols will clear up dry eyes rather quickly, it encourages much higher > production of tears, salavi, thins mucus. >
Guest guest
Thanks for all the answers, Sol. So you're not going to attempt the blood serum eye drops? I'd try that over the Restasis, unless the cost were astronomical.
