Hi Kenda,

Thanks regarding my dogs. I'm glad that I'm able to keep them too! I've really been through a tough time in the last four years and that was just the icing on the cake. I have lost everything and I surely didn't want to lose my dogs too!

As for the stuff you take for detoxing the liver....is it expensive and can you purchase it from someone other than your doctor. My spleen is enlarged and I know that this is due to problems with the liver. It showed up as being larger than normal on a cat scan and very fatty. Not good.

I'm going to see a rheumatologist on June 10th. I'm going to see if he can check all hormone levels. Is this done through the blood or urine? I had cortisol checked one time. I was drinking about a half a gallon of water a day. I complained that I wasn't getting rid of all of the urine. When the cortisol was checked by doing the 24 hour peeing in that bottle thing, I thought for sure that this would be proof that is was retaining the water. There was so little urine in the bottle it was pathetic. My doctor said that I just wasn't drinking enough water! My cortisol levels were normal, supposedly!

Hi Beth,

We have one dog, a spoiled Golden Retriever. He is the absolute best dog we have ever had. It helps that I have had him in obedience school since he was a pup. :) He’s in beginning agility and beginning open classes at the dog club here. I have a mini agility course set up for him here. They really do become so much a part of our lives. We also have 7 cats! >^..^< Yes, I’m an animal lover.

Yes, AdvaClear is expensive but I order it from myhealthfirst.com and it is much cheaper there. I have had great results with it and highly recommend it.

My hormone tests have been saliva tests. I don’t know if blood tests are reliable for hormone tests, I have heard that they aren’t but don’t know that to be true or not. Your cortisol test must have been run by an MD, they seem to be the only ones who think they know us better than we know ourselves. :(

Hi Kenda,

Animals are great aren't they??? Better than people! My Italian Greyhound went to obedience school when he was a pup. He flunked out. No kidding, he really did! He was so bad that he had me running from noon to night. He is 8 1/2 years old now and has calmed down quite a bit. Thank God since I'm too sick to chase him! He has to be about the most intelligent animal that I've ever had. When I talk to my Mom and I don't want him to know what I'm saying, I must spell most of the words. Too Funny! He doesn't like it when I leave the house so I kind of have to sneek out and spell to my Mom where I'm going. The other little one is a toy fox terrier. I think that she has alot of jack russell mixed in there. She is a cutie!

Anyway, back to what has made me sick to begin with. Yes, you are right. An MD did the cortisol test. We do know our bodies much better than doctors and it is frustrating when they don't listen or believe!

When I go to my doctor I'm going to ask him about the saliva. I've never been tested that way.

Thanks!

Beth S.

Hi Beth,

Animals are definitely better than people!! My cats and dog are always kind too me and are always there when I need them. Somehow they seem to know when we’re feeling down. I repeated Novice I class with my dog. He did well the first time and passed his test but I wanted him to be better, rather than just getting by. He loves school! We skipped Novice II because he passed the Novice II test without taking the class. :) Now he’s in agility and open classes. Your dog sounds very intelligent. Sounds like he has quite a vast vocabulary. :)

Do you have good naturopaths where you live? I’d strongly recommend seeing one, I’ve really been impressed with the care I have gotten.

Kenda,

I've never been to a naturopath nor ever heard of one. Are you speaking about homeopathic medicine? If so, I know that my insurance will not cover that. I had to stop taking some of the medication that I had taken before my LTD was terminated because of lack of money. I really feel the difference but not much I can do about it.

Until I get all of this mess cleared up, I can't even think of going to a doctor that isn't covered by insurance. My explant alone just about killed me financially.

And yes, my dog is unbelievable. He is like a human. Very intelligent dog! That is why he flunked out of obedience school. He knows what he is supposed to do but insists on doing what he wants to do!

Hi Beth,

No, naturopaths don’t generally practice homeopathic medicine, that would be a homeopath. Naturopaths treat the body using herbs and natural products. They try to treat the root of the problem, not only the problem itself. Allopathic medicine treats disease, naturopathic medicine does treat disease as well but the difference is that it tries to prevent disease in the first place.

States that recognize naturopaths will have them included in their health plans. Unfortunately my state isn’t one of them.

Max had his agility pre-test yesterday. He passed! The real test is 6/5 and determines whether or not he can go on to the next level of class. That will be a different story. :)

Hi Kenda,

I guess I'm a bit confused. I thought that homeopathic medicine was treatment with herbs. I guess that shows how much I know! :)

Tell Max I said congrats!

Hi Beth,

Homeopaths use herbal tinctures and selsalts to treat illness. I liken it to allergy treatment where allergy shots are given each week. With homeopathy, a tincture of mold is given in dilute doses to help a patient with mold allergies. All of the tinctures I took were alcohol based but some homeopaths use glycerin instead. The homeopath I saw had a saying that like treats like. She was also a quack so all of what I know could be wrong! :o She did help me but she was a quack nonetheless.

Selsalts are given for different symptoms and can be purchased at some health food stores. They are tiny white pellets.

Max has the real test this Sunday and I am really nervous! I’m sure Max isn’t. :)
