Guest guest
I ate some dark semi-sweet chips about three or four times that day That stuff barely qualifies as chocolate. It's loaded with all kinds of stuff that's NOT good for you. Try to buy chocolate that's at least 33%+ cocoa content. That's the only chocolate that's good for you. Most health food stores have organic chocolate with the percentage of cocoa above. Other kinds of chocolate that are good are Valrhona or Callebaut. Their cocoa content is around 55%. Guest guest
Melody: I bought some chocolate today at the health food store. It's called Chocolove -- they have 4 or 5 different flavors, but my fave is the one with hazelnuts. This has 33% cocoa content. It's made with Belgian chocolate -- once you've eaten the good stuff, you'll never eat chocolate chips again! LOL (Or hersey's either, for that matter, which has a very low cocoa content -- probably not more than 10%!) Guest guest
Dear Melody, You said: <<The other day I heard on the radio that chocolate may be good for diabetics because a chemical in it that increases circulation, so I ate some dark semi-sweet chips about three or four times that day. (Even though chocolate has sugar in it, it doesn't seem to raise my blood sugar that much) Anyway, I was *horribly* short tempered, had no patience at all, and cranky all day. It went away the next day. Could that kind of chocolate have triggered my adrenaline glands to make me so irritable?>> ** You are in withdrawal. While in withdrawal your cortisol is higher causing you to be short-tempered and on edge. Chocolate raises cortisol. If you want to improve peripheral circulation try horsechestnut in herb form. Regardless of what it " may " do, chocolate is still loaded with sugar and high in calories while being low in nutrients. Regards,
