Guest guest
After writing a half dozen letters to various journalists who are covering the story of the 19 year old female guinea pig who hanged herself during the clinical trial of Cymbalta, I feel like I'm going to implode. First of all, doesn't anyone else see how ridiculous it is to be marketing a psychiatric drug as an incontinence drug? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ABOUT??? I swear, they are going to get every woman drugged up one way or another. Someone on this list said they were taking Detrol -- was that you, Melody? The itsy bitsy fine print on the bottom of the screen on these ads targeted to woman say something to the effect that taking this drug will only reduce the number of time you pee during a 24 hour period by 1.2 times. What a joke! Then I saw some other propaganda that asked, "Do you urinate more than 8 times a day? Perhaps you need Detrol?" I can't stand this. Yes, I pee more than 8 times a day and that's because my body works properly and I drink a lot of WATER -- not juice, not soda, not alcoholic beverages, just good old water. And then what's with these new ads for some IBS med where they show 6 women with their shirts raised and writing on their stomachs -- another drug targeted just for women. And how many of the women with this "IBS" are actually taking psychatric drugs that cause IBS??? Has the whole world gone insane? How many women who think they have an incontinence problem are going to be prescribed cymbalta and not know that one of the side effects is SUICIDE? Sheesh. Blind Reason a novel of espionage and pharmaceutical intrigue Think your antidepressant is safe? Think again.
Guest guest
I feel sorry for our young people, who are always the targets of such propaganda. It's not just young people, it's EVERYONE!!! I have a friend who is an exec at a major entertainment company. After some job related-stress, he was put on 8 different medications. The key is NOT BUYING INTO THE LIES!! And that's what they are. This incontinence thing just sent me over the edge -- take a $200 a month pill so you pee one less time a day. How stupid is THAT? Not to mention how they've psychiatricized every human emotion. It's all about making money, not about health. Guest guest
These drug companies hold out a picture to us of having a body that functions like a machine, where every little tiny bothersome tic is treated with a pill, thus hypothetically " tuning " it to a point of hypothetical maximum performance. Like a car. This lowers our tolerance level for every little physical tingle. Natural reality is so different; there are billions of humans who *just learn to live* with daily physical inconveniences. That's the way it's been through history and will probably always be. I feel sorry for our young people, who are always the targets of such propaganda. Melody

Look how they marketed Neurontin for everything from seizures and neuropathy (approved for these) to psychiatric diagnoses. <<Has the whole world gone insane? >> ** It certainly appears so.
