Guest guest
Have you tried vitiman therapies? Dr. Berger in Aventura may be able to help @ . I do know that a form of charcoal that Dr. Berger can prescribe may be able to help. God Bless and Good Luck!!

Guest guest
Hello, It was a whole home program that took place. All they did was evaluate and never showed us what to do with . We have not been able to find any good resources here in Florida and are considering moving back up to New York where the services are better. Thank you for the information. Sincerely, RK
Guest guest
Hi, IMHO, if he's acting this way on meds, the meds need to be adjusted. Either more, less, or something entirely different. The " cocktails " that our kids take usually need to be tweaked before they're effective, its rare to hit the right combination, at the right strengths, the first time out. Whoever is prescribing your Risperdal and Naltrexone needs to take another look. However, in addition to that, I am a big believer in behavioral therapy. You mention that he had behavioral therapy before: was it just a few therapy sessions, or was there a whole home program in place? Regards, Self injurious behavior Can someone please help us!!!!! Our son is 6 years old and severely autistic with stomach problems, a feeding tube and severe abusive behavior towards himself. He bangs his head against walls, kicks, punches himself and screams like he is possessed. This has been happening more frequently when he is tired or sick. He is on Risperdal and Naltrexone, but we feel his medication should be changed because it is not working properly. During the week, has a nurse but on the weekends it is just my husband and I taking care of him. There is no one here to give us support or help us out. My husband is a very laid back patient person, but he is even losing his patience with . All I do is cry. I know cannot control his fits of rage, but we are at our wits end and don't know how to handle him in that kind of state. He has had behavioral therapy before but nothing has worked. If anyone has any information or can please give us locations of support groups in our area, it will be greatly appreciated. We live in South Florida. Please e-mail us at MRK1195@... Thank you. Sincerely, R.A. Kleiman
Guest guest
Yes, the services are infinitely better in NY. But a home program in NY is the same as one in South Florida: The first stage is evaluation; the 2nd stage is creation, whereby a qualified person (usually a CBA or CABA) will create an individualized program for the child. The third stage is implementation, where trained therapists come into your home and work with your child towards the goals set out in the program. This is the bare-bones basics, and I'm not even going into the different types of programs (Lovaas, verbal behavior, floortime, etc.). If this is not what occurred, then you did not have a whole home program; evaluation is just the beginning. I should mention at this point that usually this type of program is paid for out of the family's pocket. Regards, Re: Self injurious behavior Hello, It was a whole home program that took place.
