I do not think that it is a direct symptom of Chiari but rather a indirect one.

As we all know having Chiari can make us depressed, have anxiety, etc. Let me

make it clear though, there are really two types of depression. One is

situational depression. That is where you are depressed because you have a bad

week with pain, in the hospital, surgery did not work, etc. The other type is

clinical depression and of course that is where you are depressed for a very

long time and basically have a disease. For either one people should see a

doctor, in my opinion, especially being clinical depressed. Only a doctor can

diagnose whether you have a situational issue or clinical. To answer your

question, yes depression goes hand in hand with having Chiari and/or related

disorders.

This is just my opinion on the matter
